Amazon Prime’s Like a Dragon: Yakuza Receives Debut Trailer, Premiering October 24

As a hardcore gamer with years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of video game adaptations that either failed to live up to expectations or outright flopped. But lately, there have been some truly impressive ones that not only did justice to the source material but also managed to captivate audiences outside of the gaming community. And now, we have another promising contender on our hands: Amazon’s upcoming TV series, “Like a Dragon: Yakuza,” based on Sega’s beloved game franchise.

In recent times, there has been a growing trend of high-caliber film and television adaptations of video games, and Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio are aiming to join this successful roster with “Yakuza / Like a Dragon.” Amazon Prime announced earlier this year the production of a TV series named “Like a Dragon: Yakuza,” set for release in October.

As a long-time fan of the Yakuza series, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the latest development in the franchise. Having played through countless hours of Kazuma Kiryu’s adventures in Kamurocho and beyond, I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation as I watch the first trailer for the upcoming series.

“The game series presents the vibrant and intense lives of gangsters and district residents in Kamurochō, a large entertainment area inspired by the real-life Kabukichō district of Shinjuku, serving as the setting for the gameplay. Like a Dragon: Yakuza brings to life modern Japan and the compelling stories of its unforgettable characters, including Kazuma Kiryu, which previous games have not had the opportunity to portray.”

On October 24, the new Amazon Prime series “Like a Dragon: Yakuza” is set to debut, featuring six episodes in total. The first three episodes will be released simultaneously. Meanwhile, during Tokyo Game Show in September, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the creators of “Like a Dragon,” will unveil their upcoming project. For more information, check it out here.
