Back in December, as a thrilled fan, I couldn’t help but notice that PlayStation architect Mark Cerny essentially hinted at the PS6 when he disclosed Sony’s partnership with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) on Project Amethyst. This exciting endeavor will bring us closer to witnessing the results of their collaboration, as they work together to achieve numerous advantageous outcomes in the field of machine learning.
Today seems to be recognized as Radeon Day, a special occasion for PC enthusiasts. This day signifies the release of AMD’s advanced Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 graphics cards. To commemorate this, AMD used the opportunity to generate excitement around Project Amethyst and share updates about its innovative FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 technology (FSR 4), a feature that these new graphic cards will be compatible with.
As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but marvel at the revolutionary impact FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) technology has had on the video game world. Essentially, it enables games to be rendered at a lower resolution that our technical minds grasp, and then employs an ingenious upscaling algorithm to magnify each frame to match your TV/monitor’s native resolution. This boost in performance is truly noteworthy. What makes FSR 4 particularly exciting is its integration of AI, pushing the boundaries even further by delivering a higher level of image quality than we’ve ever seen before.
It seems that the partnership between AMD and Sony has been running smoothly. AMD expressed their satisfaction by saying, “FSR 4 is shaping up wonderfully!
