American Dad to Release Soundtrack of the Series’ Best Songs

As a long-time fan with a heart full of nostalgia for the golden era of animated sitcoms, I cannot contain my excitement at the announcement that the best musical numbers from American Dad will finally be compiled into an official soundtrack! Ever since Steve Smith’s soulful croonings about the mail or Cee-Lo Green serenading us from a singing hot tub, I’ve been hooked on this show’s infectious tunes.

American Dad, distinct among its animated peers, shines particularly with its catchy musical sequences, and soon, the finest tunes will be showcased on an official soundtrack. Later this year, American Dad returns for Season 21 on TBS, marking it as the last scripted series produced by the network. Over the years, it has gifted fans with unforgettable earworms – from Steve Smith serenading about his mail deliveries, to The Weeknd explaining his lack of physical intimacy, and even Cee-Lo Green guest starring as a singing hot tub in a musical episode.

At long last, it appears that fans of American Dad can effortlessly revisit some cherished tunes from throughout the show’s history. During the panel for the series at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 (as shared by Variety), it was announced that an official soundtrack for the show is on its way. This soundtrack will include around 12 to 14 of the series’ most iconic songs, such as “Daddy’s Gone,” and is expected to be available on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and others, coinciding with the premiere of Season 21 this Fall.

What Are American Dad’s Best Songs?

Although the official tracklist for the American Dad soundtrack hasn’t been confirmed yet, there are several songs that undeniably should be included due to their popularity among fans and occasional virality. One such song is “Daddy’s Gone,” sung by Steve in the Season 7 episode “Hot Water.” This performance, which was a musical episode featuring Cee-Lo Green, stands out as it showcased Scott Grimes’ singing abilities exceptionally well. In fact, following this performance, we saw many memorable Steve moments.

Among the tracks that should be included are Steve’s debut with his boy band, titled “Girl You Need a Shot (of B12 [Boyz 12])”, songs from the “Rubberneckin” musical episode like “Damn That’s My Mama”, and “You’ve Got a Kink”. There are numerous tracks that will appeal to fans, whether they’re serious tunes or humorous ones. Fans would surely be excited to rediscover their favorites if they get the opportunity to listen again.

As a long-time fan of animated sitcoms, I eagerly await the upcoming Season 21 (or Season 19, depending on how you count the episodes) of “American Dad.” Growing up with this show has been a source of laughter and entertainment for me through many life stages. However, as of now, there’s no definite release date announced, so I suggest catching up on reruns with TBS and Adult Swim until then. If you’re looking to binge-watch the series, all previous seasons are available to stream on Hulu. I can attest that this quirky and hilarious show is well worth your time!
