American Horror Story Creator Adapting Image Comics' The Beauty Into TV Series

As a die-hard fan of Ryan Murphy’s captivating and thought-provoking storytelling, the announcement of yet another intriguing series, “The Beauty,” based on the 2016 Image Comics title, has me utterly enthralled! The fact that it is part of Murphy’s extensive Disney deal, featuring a stellar cast including Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, and Ashton Kutcher, only serves to heighten my anticipation.

A new Ryan Murphy series titled “The Beauty” is set to air on FX, drawing inspiration from comic books. According to Deadline, the show is a adaptation of the 2016 Image Comics title by the same name. This upcoming series falls under Murphy’s overall deal with Disney and will feature frequent collaborator Evan Peters, Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, and Ashton Kutcher in leading roles. Additionally, Peters, Ramos, and Pope will serve as executive producers. Murphy himself is set to write and executive produce the series along with Matt Hodgson. Production for the first season, consisting of 11 episodes, is slated to start this fall, though specific character details have yet to be disclosed.

2016 graphic novel “The Beauty” was conceived by creators Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. In essence, it portrays a society fixated on outer beauty. The question is, what if there existed a means to ensure constant improvement in one’s looks? What if this enhancement came at the cost of a sexually transmitted disease? In the realm of “The Beauty”, physical perfection is achievable. However, the majority have embraced it, but Detectives Foster and Vaughn are about to uncover its devastating consequences.

It’s worth mentioning that Peters often works with Murphy, having featured in nine seasons of his show “American Horror Story,” the first season of “Pose,” and more recently, “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story” on Netflix. Pope has also collaborated with Murphy, appearing in both “Pose” and “Hollywood” on Netflix. Ramos is widely recognized for his performances in Broadway’s “Hamilton” and the recent film “Twisters,” starring alongside Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar Jones. Kutcher gained fame for his role in Fox’s “That 70’s Show” and later on shows like “Two and a Half Men” on CBS.

Ryan Murphy’s latest production, titled “The Beauty,” follows his renowned track record of creating shows like “American Horror Story,” “American Crime Story,” and “9-1-1,” among others, such as “American Horror Stories” and “American Sports Story.” Additionally, he has two upcoming series: “American Love Story” for FX and “All’s Fair” for Hulu. It was also revealed that due to the ending of “9-1-1: Lone Star” on Fox, another spinoff under the “9-1-1” banner is being developed for ABC.

Time Minear and I are currently developing a new TV series which we’re in the process of writing, and we aim to air it next fall according to Murphy’s statement to Variety. Regrettably, despite our fondness for Lone Star, its financial viability was not sustainable. It belonged to a Disney company that aired on Fox network, and unfortunately, the combination never proved successful. We had a lengthy run with it, but now we’re excited to debut a new series in an unnamed city that promises fun. Additionally, 9-1-1 has moved to ABC and has since become the top show on Thursday nights. Given their obvious appetite for such shows, we plan to offer them another one that I genuinely enjoy.
