For Iam Tongi, the last few years have been a roller coaster ride.
Ever since clinching the title against finalists Megan Danielle and Colin Stough on American Idol season 21 in 2023, this Hawaiian native has experienced numerous changes, one significant aspect being the commencement of his weight loss transformation.
In an interview on May 17, I shared with People that I’ve managed to shed an impressive 115 pounds. The feeling is incredible, I’m really enjoying how I feel now.
Regarding his methods for working on himself and maintaining health, the 20-year-old offered some insights into his usual workout regimen, discussing it with a personal trainer.
The singer shared that we might exercise together at about 11 o’clock, return home afterwards, and then opt for either an ice bath or sauna. Following this, we would shower, freshen up, and take a walk.
He explained that he had relocated to Memphis, which has kept him occupied with exercise, writing, recording, and generally staying active – albeit in a new and varied manner.
In fact, the musician known as “Sunshine” hinted that in addition to creating a tune for Disney’s upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch, he’s been focusing much of his creativity on developing fresh tunes.
He mentioned he’s currently producing an album, which has him quite thrilled. Drawing inspiration from plenty of soul music, he admires Al Green deeply and considers him one of his favorite vocalists. So, he’s particularly looking forward to the upcoming single.
However, though he’s immersed in building a fresh chapter in Tennessee and drawing motivation from the surroundings, it’s been emphasized that he never overlooks opportunities to reunite with his loved ones in Hawaii.
He expressed joy upon returning home and seeing familiar faces, who were equally thrilled to see him. It was a wonderful sensation, a refreshing one too.
Immediately following his victory in ‘American Idol’ season 23, which took place two years ago on May 18 (when Jamal Roberts clinched the title), he expressed that his initial intention was to spend time with his loved ones, or in simpler terms, go out and be with my family.
Previously in the final act, he expressed a touching homage to his deceased father Rodney through a heartfelt duet with James Blunt on the song “Monsters”.
TopMob News reported that James touched me emotionally after their show, saying, “I was overjoyed when he performed! His voice is just astounding – it evokes such raw emotion. You know what I mean, right? That’s what makes his singing so powerful for me, and he’s truly a kind person. To have him join me on stage is simply incredible.

Since that memorable moment back in 2002 on the first season of American Idol, the mother of River and Remy has made significant strides. This New York resident has amassed three Grammy Awards, achieved three number-one hits on the Billboard Hot 100, served as a judge on NBC’s The Voice, and now hosts her critically acclaimed daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.
In September 2008, the runner-up from season two made a pair of significant disclosures. He announced on “Good Morning America” that the birth of his son, Parker, with music producer Jaymes Foster, prompted him to come out. His reasoning was that he couldn’t raise a child and teach him to lie or hide things, while also not wanting to bring him up in an environment where it wasn’t acceptable for him to be himself. Since then, this ginger-haired personality transitioned from music to politics, even attempting to secure a seat in Congress in 2016. Following his election loss, the singer released a documentary chronicling his journey. However, he hasn’t abandoned music altogether; in fact, he toured the country with season two winner Ruben Studdard in 2023 and 2024.
Following his victory in season two of American Idol, Ruben garnered a Grammy nomination and put out several chart-topping albums. Later, in 2013, the artist participated in The Biggest Loser and gained popularity among viewers. Despite being eliminated on two occasions, he absorbed valuable insights from the show. Interestingly, although he has maintained a close bond with Clay, Ruben found his lifelong companion in wife Kristin, who gave birth to their second child in 2024.
It turns out, the Season Three champion is thankful for every milestone in her journey. As she expressed to TopMob News last December 2023, “Life has its ups and downs, sometimes you stumble, but then you rise again.” Despite enduring challenging times, she admitted, “For me, having lost everything twice, battling my way back here, it feels incredibly rewarding.”
Her recent achievements include the birth of her daughter Keziah in 2021 with husband Kendall Taylor and a Golden Globe nomination for her role in the remake of The Color Purple. The North Carolina native, who is also mother to adult daughter Zion, said, “I want to savor this moment, knowing that I have put in the effort to reach this point.
Despite not winning season three, her musical talents certainly shone through: First an Oscar in 2006 for “Dreamgirls,” followed by a Grammy in 2017 for her work on the “The Color Purple” musical adaptation. She also served as a judge on “The Voice.” Now, as a mom to son David, she has embarked on a new venture: hosting her very own talk show.
Since setting foot on the American Idol stage, Carrie undeniably secured her status in popular culture. True to form, she not only emerged victorious in season four but has since reigned supreme in the realm of country music.
In addition to this, she shared co-hosting duties for over a decade at the Country Music Association Awards with fellow artist Brad Paisley. Amidst managing her musical endeavors and hosting responsibilities, Carrie is a loving mother to her two sons who share their life with retired NHL center Mike Fisher.
2024 saw the announcement that Carrie would be joining American Idol once more, taking over Katy Perry’s role as a judge on the show.
Four years ago, the contestant who came in second place during season four is now happily married, with four children – three sons and a daughter. In spite of enduring severe health issues back in 2006, this talented Southern rock musician has continued to produce numerous successful albums following his participation on American Idol.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d express it this way:
In my opinion, the charismatic Constantine, with his voluminous hair and booming voice, was an ideal candidate for the role in Broadway’s “Rock of Ages.” His captivating performance during season four left quite an impression, and it earned him a Tony nomination. Notably, he’s also a proud father to Malena, born in 2010. Fast forward to 2023, Constantine continued his theatrical journey with the lead role in “Rock & Roll Man.
Following his win in season five, the silver fox saw his self-titled album achieve platinum status and took on a role in a Broadway version of “Grease”. In 2016, he transitioned from music to television, becoming the host of a program called “State-Plate”, which emphasized farm-to-table cuisine. Nevertheless, his initial passion never waned, and he continues to perform live concerts of his music.
Prior to the era of Justin Bieber, there was McPhee fever that catapulted Katharine into both singing and acting roles, notably in the stage-inspired show ‘Smash’ and the drama series ‘Scorpion’. Married to David Foster since 2019, she is now a mother to musically inclined son Rennie. In an interview with TopMob News in 2023, Katharine expressed her desire for Rennie to follow in his father’s footsteps and master multiple musical instruments. “I hope he will, but we aren’t forcing him,” she said. “We simply let him explore. However, I would love for him to possess a working knowledge of various musical instruments, much like his dad, just as he seems to be doing.
Following his time on “American Idol,” season five finalist who scored a hit with the song “Wait for You” traveled to Angola, collaborating with former show judge Kara DioGuardi to promote Malaria No More. Elliott also garnered attention in 2010 when he survived Chile’s earthquake and posted updates about it on Twitter.
Continuing his musical career, he is a father to Camilla with Karen Cruz.
During the fifth season of American Idol, the country music artist placed sixth, but afterwards she acted in Hallmark’s movie Christmas in Graceland and received three Emmy Award nominations for her daytime TV show Pickler & Ben.
Following the suicide of her husband Kyle Jacobs in February 2023, she reminisced about their time together. As she shared with People in 2023, one valuable lesson Kyle imparted was during difficult times, if you’re unsure of what to do, “just stay still.” This wisdom from her late husband is something Kellie decided to follow.
As the youngest female contestant to win in season six, she ignited quite a firestorm back in 2007. Her Battlefield tour took her to 35 cities across the United States, and she added another milestone to her list by making her Broadway debut in 2010’s In the Heights. Her career has flourished ever since, culminating in the birth of her first child with Dana Isaiah in May 2018. Over the years, she’s made a heartfelt return to Idol and competed on the 31st season of Dancing With the Stars.
The season seven champion’s popular song, “Time of My Life,” mirrors his singing triumphs, yet its title could equally refer to his activities beyond the stage. In 2010, he journeyed to Ethiopia as a representative for the United Nations, advocating for women empowerment. He also participated in the Race for Hope in D.C., fundraising for brain cancer research in memory of his late brother, Adam.
Since 2015, he has been married to Racheal Stump. The ever-traveling musician unveiled his latest single, “TABOS,” in 2022.
Following his second-place finish behind David during season seven, this singer undertook a two-year religious service with the Church of Latter Day Saints in Chile. Upon his return in 2014, he has consistently performed music. In June 2021, he publicly declared himself as part of the LGBTQ+ community. Sharing on Instagram in October 2023, he expressed that this personal journey towards self-acceptance had been wonderful and hoped that by living openly, he could inspire many others to embrace themselves as well.
Despite being overshadowed in media attention by his runner-up, Adam Lambert, the season eight winner has achieved a low-key success with his self-titled second album. Launched in November 2009, it entered the Billboard 200 at position 11, and one of its tracks, “I Need to Know,” was showcased on an episode of The Vampire Diaries.
Meanwhile, the celebrity has been expanding his family, having welcomed three children with his long-time sweetheart, Katy O’Connell.
If being popular were a trophy, the runner-up from the eighth season who caused quite a stir would be the ultimate champion. Since his stint on the show, he’s released numerous albums, led tours as the headliner, garnered countless award nominations, followed in the footsteps of Freddie Mercury by fronting Queen, and even starred in Fox’s revamp of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. He also took a turn as a guest judge on Idol and helped kick off the 2019 Oscars with a performance of “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.
Following the eighth season of American Idol, Gokey tied the knot with Leyicet Peralta in 2012, and they now share four kids together.
Known for his three Grammy nominations, this individual launched a Christian music album called “Jesus People” in the year 2021. Additionally, he owns an eyewear brand that bears his name, Danny Gokey Eyewear.
Following his selection among the final 10 in a summer tour back in 2010 as the season nine winner of a popular singing competition, Lee embarked on his solo music journey. He tied the knot with model-actress Jonna Walsh in 2012, having first crossed paths during the production of his debut music video post-Idol. Today, this artist is recognized as a successful singer-songwriter, with some of his tunes being featured on hit series such as The Walking Dead.
In season nine, the rock artist who bore a resemblance to Janis Joplin tied the knot with musician Brian Walker and launched her debut album titled “Farmer’s Daughter” in December 2010. Unfortunately, she lost her record deal when RCA dismantled Arista, J Records, and Jive Records. However, she made her acting breakthrough on season 2 of ABC’s “Body of Proof”.
In May 2013, the singer parted ways with her husband. Post-divorce, she shared with The Boot that her second album titled “All That For This” was a reflection of her new life chapter.
The Season 10 winner was the first American Idol champion since Ruben to launch his debut album, “Clear as Day,” at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. He was recognized as New Artist of the Year at the 2011 American Country Awards and performed the national anthem prior to Game 1 of the World Series that year. In June 2018, the singer of “This Is It” and “Five More Minutes” tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend, Gabi Dugal. Their son, Avery, was born in October 2022.
After coming second to Scotty on a popular singing competition, the beloved artist secured a record deal and launched her first studio album, “Wildflower,” in October 2011. Following her stint on that show, she shared the stage with Scotty at the 2011 CMT Music Awards, made her debut on the Grand Ole Opry, and even performed alongside Martina McBride at the CMA Music Festival.
In 2017, she earned her first recognition from the Country Music Association (CMA) with a nomination for Best New Artist after achieving success with her album, “Road Less Traveled.” She also ventured into acting and starred in a film titled after the same name.
The artist known as “Thicc As Thieves” announced her engagement to Cam Arnold while performing at the Grand Ole Opry in November 2022. They eventually tied the knot in February 2024.
In the tenth season, the contestant didn’t manage to clinch the title, finishing sixth instead. This was partly due to the judges utilizing their one-time save from five weeks earlier. Despite this, he gained a significant fan base and was affectionately dubbed as a favorite among viewers. He showcased his talent on the American Idol Live tour, collaborated with fellow finalist (and reported love interest) Haley Reinhart on a cover of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside,” and eventually signed with jazz label Concord.
His self-titled debut album dropped in 2012, and was subsequently followed by “I Put A Spell On You” in 2018 and “Jazz” in 2019.
Jimmie was eliminated prior to the live voting rounds during season 10, but he’s since released two straight No. 1 hits, “Best Shot” and “Make Me Want To,” in 2018, and won the 2021 Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year.
In April 2023, he and wife Alexis Allen announced they were expecting their third child while also ending their two-year marriage. Just a month later, Jimmie was accused of sexual assault and abuse by his former manager in a lawsuit. Although he confessed to infidelity and apologized to Alexis for embarrassing her with the affair, he denied the sexual misconduct claims, stating that his relationship with the manager was consensual.
Shortly after the birth of their son, Cohen Ace James, in September, the couple announced they were working on reconciling.
Following his victory in season 11, the artist attained the pinnacle of music charts with his popular single “Home,” doubling as the theme tune for NBC’s broadcast of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
In the year 2015, he exchanged vows with his girlfriend Hannah Blackwell in an intimate wedding ceremony, surrounded by loved ones. Four years down the line, they became parents to their first child, a son named Patch.
The season 16 winner hinted to TopMob News prior to the release of Whirlwind in 2019, a year following her victory on American Idol, that the album would feature a variety of distinct sounding songs. She shared that she is deeply fond of all the tracks and finding it challenging to stay within one genre due to her affection for them all.
After finishing as the runner-up in season 16, the singer has dedicated time to producing new music and seizing the perks that come with being on ABC’s series. In an interview with TopMob News, Caleb Lee stated, “Music has always been my passion, and I’ve always aspired to be an artist. However, my experience in entertainment has taught me so much. I was fortunate enough to attend Luke Bryan’s final show for his tour and even had the chance to perform a song with him.” His most recent album, titled Southern Galactic, was released in October 2023.
Following her third-place finish on season 16 of American Idol, the “I Hope” country singer dedicated herself to wrapping up her album. She expressed her eagerness for her upcoming performance at Stagecoach and touring with Brad Paisley, calling it the perfect cap to everything. “It’s unbelievable to go on tour with him,” she told TopMob News.
Approaching two years since they became parents for the first time with daughter Baylah, they expanded their family in October 2022 by welcoming son Augustine. In February 2024, they welcomed their third child into their lives.
