An Arrowverse Star Just Joined AMC’s New Anne Rice Series

As a long-time fan of Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ captivating performances, I couldn’t be more thrilled about her latest role in AMC’s upcoming series, “The Talamasca.” Her versatility, as demonstrated by her roles in The CW’s The Originals and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, makes her the perfect choice to play Olive, a character that seems tailor-made for Richardson-Sellers’ charm and skill at disguise.

Instead of the Waverider, Maisie Richardson-Sellers will transition to AMC’s upcoming series The Talamasca. As reported by Variety, Richardson-Sellers has secured a role in this show, which is part of AMC’s Immortal Universe based on the late author Anne Rice‘s novels. In her new character, Olive, she will portray a captivating and ambitious agent of The Talamasca, tasked with overseeing Guy Anatole as his American handler. Olive is described as being skilled in managing information and adept at disguises, following the classic traditions of espionage.

The most recent addition to the cast of “The Talamasca” is Richardson-Sellers. Earlier announcements revealed that Nicholas Denton would play the lead role, Guy Anatole, while William Fichtner and Elizabeth McGovern have been cast as the heads of the London Motherhouse and New York Motherhouse respectively. This series will center around the individuals tasked with monitoring and controlling the witches, vampires, and other supernatural beings scattered across the world.

As a fervent admirer, I’m always thrilled by the captivating performances of Maisie Richardson-Sellers. She truly shines in shows like The CW’s The Originals and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, where she brought Amaya Jiwe/Vixen to life in Seasons 2 and 3, and Charlie/Clotho in Seasons 4 and 5. Her talent was also showcased in The Undeclared War, and more recently, she completed Season 2 of Nine Perfect Strangers. In the realm of films, Richardson-Sellers graced our screens with her presence in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Netflix’s The Kissing Booth 2 and The Kissing Booth 3.

Anne Rice’s series adaptation of “The Talamasca,” titled as such, received a greenlight in June, and the initial season will consist of six episodes. The premiere is anticipated for some time in 2025.

Dan McDermott, AMC Networks’ president of entertainment and AMC Studios, expressed excitement when the series was announced, stating that it’s a story they’ve long wanted to share, revolving around an intriguing and captivating secret society – the Talamasca. This secret society has made appearances in both of their current Anne Rice series. He also mentioned the pleasure of having such skilled professionals like John Lee Hancock and Mark Lafferty on board, and working closely with producer Mark Johnson as the creative lead for the Anne Rice Immortal Universe.

My journey began when Mark Johnson phoned me, asking if I was familiar with the Talamasca. I found the concept intriguing, as it seemed similar to organizations like the CIA or MI6, which are vital but not always transparent. An organization with its own mysteries. Fortunately, Dan McDermott and Mark Lafferty appreciated my perspective, and so did talented TV producer Mark Lafferty. I’d like to thank everyone at Gran Via, Mark Lafferty, our gifted writers, and AMC for their unwavering support, advocacy, and enthusiasm from the start. I’m overjoyed to be part of this and can’t wait to introduce a third series in the Anne Rice Immortal Universe.

It’s tentatively planned that Anne Rice’s The Talamasca will debut on AMC in 2025. Season 2 of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches is scheduled to return on January 5, 2025. At present, a third season of Anne Rice’s Interview With the Vampire is being developed.
