As a seasoned gamer of comics and a devoted fan of Batman‘s dark and intricate universe, I can hardly contain my excitement for DC’s latest offering – Two-Face. Having journeyed through countless tales of Gotham’s underbelly, I can confidently say that this series promises to be a gripping and emotional rollercoaster ride.
In a unique twist for fans, they can now delve deep into the mind of one of Batman’s most tragic villains, as the origin story of Two-Face unfolds in an innovative manner. Known for their captivating presence, Batman’s villains have made their mark across various media platforms, including television shows like “The Penguin” and movies such as “Joker: Folie a Deux”. The latest comic book series is set to shed light on the story of Two-Face.
DC unveiled a sneak peek of the #1 issue of Two-Face, penned by Christian Ward, illustrated by Fábio Veras and Ivan Plascencia, and lettered by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. This series is part of the DC All-In publishing program, succeeding the Absolute Power event and introducing the new Absolute Universe label. The teaser transports readers back to the fateful day when Harvey Dent suffered disfigurement, leading to the emergence of his Two-Face identity. However, in this storyline, we delve into the fractured psyche of Harvey Dent/Two-Face. The duo have formed an unsteady alliance, yet Two-Face continues to strive for dominance over their shared body.
Preview of “Two-Face” #1 offers an intimate perspective from the antagonist, transitioning from the former courtroom where Harvey Dent served as prosecutor against Salvatore Maroni, to a contemporary setting featuring Two-Face in a trial for villains at the White Church. The narrative unfolds exclusively from Two-Face’s viewpoint. A tantalizing glimpse into the DC “Two-Face” series hints that the defendant he must represent is Victor Zsasz, who claims innocence for a murder he allegedly did not commit.
Following my deep affection for crafting stories around the intricate character of Harvey from the comic ‘Batman: City of Madness’, Ward expressed immense joy and pride to be writing Two-Face’s inaugural solo series. To me, Two-Face is not just the best Batman villain but also Gotham’s most cherished character. I can hardly contain my excitement as we embark on this adventure with up-and-coming artist prodigy Fábio Veras, colorist mastermind Ivan Plascencia, and lettering genius Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou. We will lead Harvey Dent to unforeseen territories, beginning with a return to the courtroom.
According to Ward, our show finds Harvey employing his expertise in criminology to tackle the peculiar and menacing crimes of Gotham’s underworld. Simultaneously, he harbors hopes for a return to normal life and potentially rekindling his friendship with Bruce Wayne. In essence, it’s time to take your seats, as Harvey has made his decision, and justice is about to be served!
In DC’s latest Two-Face series, Harvey Dent, after years of internal struggle, finds a fragile truce between his two personalities. Now using his legal expertise, Harvey takes on the challenge of resolving the murkiest and most perilous cases in Gotham City, starting with Victor Zsasz. When Zsasz is implicated in the murder of a fellow underworld associate, who could be more suited to defend a criminal’s innocence than someone who has experienced life on both sides of the law?
The preview of Two-Face #1 is below. The issue goes on sale Wednesday, December 4th.
