As a die-hard fan of the show, I’ve found myself pondering about the future of “And Just Like That” ever since its season 2 finale left Carrie and Aidan’s story hanging in the balance. Will we see a third season unfold and find out what happens next for these beloved characters? Only time will tell!
It’s great to hear that season 3 has been approved, but it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer as Max revealed the release window in their annual One to Watch trailer – and sadly, the new season is not coming out right away.
In June 2023, the contentious TV show featuring the original stars like Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis returned to our television screens for its second season.
Who’s returning for Season 3 and what might unfold? Here’s a rundown of what to expect in the upcoming season of “And Just Like That”.
**Spoiler warning for And Just Like That season 2**
And Just Like That season 3 release date speculation
Max has confirmed that season 3 won’t arrive until 2025.
The delay was likely due to the now-resolved actors’ and writers’ strikes in Hollywood.
News arrives after the announcement made in November 2023, when writers went back to their writing studio to start working on Season 3, following the end of the strikes.
The series was officially renewed for a third season in August 2023.
As a die-hard fan of Sex and the City, I can’t contain my excitement about diving deeper into this captivating world and crafting fresh tales for characters that resonate so strongly with me – and millions of others – thanks to their exceptional portrayal by some truly brilliant actors.
To Michael Patrick King and the outstanding group of writers, producers, actors, and technicians he leads, we lift a toast. They’ve been delighting us for 25 years with vibrant friendships and captivating narratives set in New York City. We eagerly anticipate sharing where the story goes in season three with our audience.

As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that some familiar faces will be gracing our screens once again in the upcoming season 3 of And Just Like That. These beloved actors are set to rejoin the main cast!
- Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie Bradshaw
- Cynthia Nixon as Miranda Hobbes

- Sarita Choudhury as Seema Patel
- Niall Cunningham as Brady Hobbes
- David Eigenberg as Steve Brady
- Evan Handler as Harry Goldenblatt
- Christopher Jackson as Herbert Wexley
- Nicole Ari Parker as Lisa Todd Wexley
- Sebastiano Pigazzi as Giuseppe
- Alexa Swinton as Rock Goldenblatt
- Dolly Wells as Joy
- John Corbett as Aidan Shaw
On the other hand, Sara Ramirez won’t be returning to portray Miranda’s ex-lover and stand-up comic, Che Diaz.
Or, put simply: Sara Ramirez isn’t coming back as Miranda’s ex-love interest and comedian, Che Diaz.
Moreover, because of other prior engagements, Karen Pittman regrettably won’t reprise her role as Dr Nya Wallace.
According to showrunner Michael Patrick King (via Entertainment Weekly), they were incredibly exciting and crucial characters, but unfortunately, things didn’t pan out as planned.
Just as every significant romance we’ve seen in this series has its own turning point where one must part ways, so too did it feel necessary for Carrie to leave her relationships with Berger and Petrovsky behind, as well as Miranda’s with Skipper and Che. And just as those characters evolved, it was their time to move forward in their own lives.
Karen, indeed, had numerous chances to carry on with her work. Our series already boasts an abundance of characters. Currently, we have five female characters, each having their unique universe. Some are married, some are mothers, and a few of those children even have their own relationships. Thus, the storyline keeps expanding.

Photos from the third season have verified that Julie Halston is set to return as Bitsy Von Muffling, a character from Sex and the City, and Katerina Tannenbaum will be back as Lisette, Carrie’s ex-neighbor and jewelry designer who now resides in her old townhouse apartment.
Furthermore, John Glover, who previously starred on Smallville, will join the cast again for Season 3 as Seema’s new superior Elliot, reprising his role from last season. Additionally, Rosemarie DeWitt has been added to the lineup, taking on the character of Aidan’s former spouse Kathy.
Additionally, you’ll find that a number of fresh guest stars are joining the cast, among them Rosie O’Donnell, who will play a character named Mary.
Also, keep an eye for the introduction of new male characters played by Logan Marshall-Green, Mecad Brooks, and Jonathan Cake.
Jenifer Lewis and Charisma Carpenter have also been spotted on the set of the series.
Lastly, it has been reported by Entertainment Weekly that the acclaimed actress from Broadway and Agatha All Along, Patti LuPone, will be making an appearance in the show for its third season as well.
What could happen in And Just Like That season 3?

Carrie and Aidan were trying to keep their renewed love alive, yet finding a balance between their relationship and his responsibilities towards his kids proved challenging, at least temporarily.
In my perspective as a movie reviewer, the narrative unfolds around Aidan, who had to confront a grim reality when his teenage son, Wyatt, met with an accident while returning home to their farmhouse in Norfolk. This incident compelled him to prioritize his presence for his children above all else, implying no more jaunts to New York City. In an attempt to bridge the gap, Aidan’s partner, Carrie, proposed visiting him instead, but this solution didn’t resonate with Aidan either. As a result, they found themselves in a rather tricky predicament, grappling with finding a resolution that works for both parties.
Leaving Carrie’s sparkling new townhouse, the duo remained a unit, but they couldn’t fully flourish until Wyatt reached adulthood, which is five years away – a fact that leaves many wondering what the third season holds for this pair.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, King shared the direction for the second season: “We’re constructing the narrative for what will drive the story – we’re bringing Aidan back, but she won’t harm him because she understands she can’t, and we don’t want viewers to think we are repeating ourselves. Instead, he will hurt her. The only way we know he would ever distance himself from her is if his deeper love – something every parent would consider a greater love – is the responsibility towards your children.
In conversation with Variety regarding the influence of the puzzle on the show’s future development, King stated: “This enigma provides us with additional narrative, an open-ended plot, a complex dilemma, ample room for exploration, and a significant issue for Carrie to ponder.
As a movie enthusiast, I find myself intrigued by the conundrum that unfolds before me: How does Carrie Bradshaw navigate her journey towards love? This question leaves me curious and eager to explore her tale.
In another location, Charlotte currently holds a position at Mark Kasabian’s art gallery. She’s excelling significantly there, as evidenced by her recent sale of a painting to singer Sam Smith in the penultimate episode. Her return to employment wasn’t without challenges, given the responsibilities of family life, but she asserted to Harry that she’s determined to continue her career. This implies that he needs to take on more responsibility regarding their children and household management.

Regarding Miranda, she’s recently re-entered the legal field by taking on a temporary role for her supervisor at Human Rights Watch. Her exceptional skills have earned her this position, which was previously held as an internship. Simply put, she’s exceptionally talented.
As a cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to see Miranda making a comeback with full vigor! She shone brightly in the final BBC discussion she was invited to, and it’s a delight to witness her unflagging energy. It’s a beautiful melody to our ears that Miranda is back on track after a bumpy beginning.
In my humble opinion as a film critic, Miranda’s romantic journey has reached a decisive end with Che, leaving her potentially wary of new relationships following his latest performance that might have left a sour taste. However, I fervently hope she finds someone who truly suits her in the future. Moreover, it seems she is making amends with Steve, moving away from the contentious relationship fans of Sex and the City once envisioned for them. While this may not be the ideal scenario many fans had hoped for, it’s definitely a step towards a more peaceful coexistence between these two characters.
Though, given the return of Dolly Wells as Joy, could this be a new romance for Miranda?
