And just like that, Miranda Hobbes has a new beginning.
Speculation ran high among viewers as they pondered the potential impact of Sara Ramírez’s exit from “And Just Like That” on the upcoming third season of the HBO Max comedy. However, Cynthia Nixon subtly suggested that Miranda’s romantic life might enter a smoother phase following her split with Che.
In her exclusive interview with TopMob News, Cynthia shared that Miranda was now free from any romantic entanglements once more. Additionally, she mentioned that the conflicts between Miranda and both Che and Steve had been resolved and were no longer an issue.
After Miranda’s marriage to Steve (David Eigenberg) and her relationship with Che came to an end, Cynthia playfully hinted that her character might now have the freedom to delve deeper into her romantic experiences and sexual identity.
Speaking on behalf of Miranda, she was embarking on a fresh journey within the dating scene, having made up her mind to explore relationships with women and non-binary individuals. However, she wasn’t entirely sure about the best approach.
Regarding the divided opinions on the character of Che in the first two seasons of the revival series “Sex and the City“, Kristin Davis, one of the cast members, commented, “We tend to overlook such matters.” (Stay tuned for more from the AJLT cast on TopMob News on May 28 at 11 p.m.)
In early 2024, it was announced that Sara would no longer be part of the series. Following this news, Cynthia expressed her thoughts about Miranda’s romantic partner, Che, stating that he was both “controversial” and “outstanding.
She stated to Variety last May that both she and Michael Patrick King believed the character had reached its end. They stirred things up, then wrapped up the storyline.
However, the upcoming season boasts several well-known guest stars, such as Rosie O’Donnell, who hinted that her much-awaited role will prove to be a captivating wait.
She shared with Us Weekly in April, “It was incredibly fun, and that’s really all I can share.” The rest, you’ll need to see for yourself.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that the much-anticipated third season of “And Just Like That” will grace our screens on HBO Max starting May 29th. For those eager to spot the stylish echoes between this new series and the timeless “Sex and the City”, stay tuned!
In the debut of “And Just Like That…”, one of the items Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) wore again was her most memorable accessory: Her royal blue Manolo Blahnik Hangisi silk stilettos from her wedding. However, these shoes held a much more poignant significance after Carrie discarded them in the shower while mourning over a dying Big (Chris Noth).
Previously, Danny Santiago, one of the co-costume designers for the show, clarified to TopMob News that a certain element was crucial to the storyline. They felt it was fitting to complete the shoe’s long journey by saying farewell to it in this manner.
In the same melancholy setting, Carrie adorns another item, old and blue – a flower pin on her coat. However, the costume designers chose to subtly alter the brooch; Santiago explained, “The reason for this change was the unfolding events, so we dyed the petals of the silk broach. The one she’s wearing in the scene is the original flower from the archive that she has.
In the original movie from 2008, Carrie’s black studded accessory emerged as a breakout star, having been sourced from Santiago’s second-hand collection. After filming concluded, he generously passed it on to Parker. When it came to incorporating vintage items in the reboot, the costume department acknowledged Sarah Jessica for preserving nearly all of the outfits she wore during the series and both films. Santiago commented that having such an extensive archive was a stroke of luck, as the pieces were not only beloved by fans but also played crucial roles in the show and movies. He further expressed his excitement about the possibility of reintroducing these cherished items in the reboot, allowing fans to once again appreciate their favorite costumes.
In the third episode of the recent series, I proudly dusted off one of my most iconic fashion statements – the eye-catching purple sequined bag that was first introduced by Fendi in their Fall/Winter 1999-2000 collection and famously labeled as a “Baguette” by Carrie Bradshaw during her mugging incident in SoHo, as depicted in the original series. I flaunted this timeless accessory when my friends and I attended Che’s comedy show, and later reused it in episode nine while spending time with Seema.
In the first movie, the Timmy Woods accessory was introduced, and it seemed fitting to bring it back when Carrie went to Paris during the season one finale of “And Just Like That…” to spread Big’s ashes.
In the last season of Sex and the City, Carrie donned a breathtaking Versace “mille feuille” dress. However, she lamented in And Just Like That… that she hadn’t had an opportunity to showcase it in public.
She shared with Seema, “On one occasion in Paris and another time right here, just for amusement,” she indulged. “I found myself at a window, savoring an entire Jiffy Pop container all by myself.” It’s no surprise that sounds like our Carrie, enjoying some solitary popcorn feasting in her NYC apartment while donning a pricey $80,000 gown!
From the collection of photos taken during the second season, a snapshot rapidly spread online, featuring Parker donning Carrie’s memorable Vivienne Westwood dress from her unsuccessful wedding to Big in the 2008 film – sporting a tribute to the famous blue bird accessory she once wore as a headdress.
Could this be a dream sequence? A flashback? We can’t help but wonder…
