Fans of Star Wars are feeling hopeful as they watch the trailer for the upcoming second season of Andor, a critically praised prequel series set before the events in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Despite its brief run of just two seasons, the storyline promises to deliver a satisfying conclusion. What fans may not have anticipated is the unique Rebel anthem they hear, which differs from any other Star Wars music. The reason for this fresh sound lies in the song’s artist and title.
In the trailer for Star Wars: Andor Season 2, the music playing is a song called “The Revolution Starts Now,” composed by Steve Earle. This title aligns well with Lucasfilm’s choice for Andor since the second season revolves around Diego Luna’s character Cassian Andor and the rise of the Rebel Alliance. Essentially, Andor Season 2 marks the inception of the Rebels’ revolution against the Empire, a conflict that continues through Rogue One and the original Star Wars trilogy.
In 2005, Steve Earle was honored with a Grammy Award for his eleventh studio album titled “The Revolution Starts Now.” This album clinched the prize for Best Contemporary Folk Album at the 47th annual Grammys. Regarding Andor, here’s a brief synopsis of its second season:
In the much-anticipated continuation of the hit thriller series “Andor“, we find ourselves at the final chapter. The twelve episodes in Season Two will unfold the tale of Cassian Andor and the burgeoning rebel alliance spanning the crucial four years that culminate in the uncovering of the Death Star and the events portrayed in “Rogue One“. Where Season One traced Cassian’s evolving transformation from a disillusioned nobody to a dedicated volunteer for the cause, Season Two will witness his metamorphosis from soldier to leader to hero as he moves towards his momentous fate. From its very outset, Cassian’s narrative has ignited a growing cast of friends and foes alike. As the shadow of galactic war looms closer in Season Two, these relationships will deepen, with everyone pushed to their limits as the stakes escalate. Betrayals, sacrifices, and competing agendas will come to the forefront, while the dreams of some may be realized at a great cost – or remain unfulfilled.
According to Showrunner Tony Gilroy, the series Andor is set to explore a well-known Star Wars location: Yavin IV. “Of course, we’ll eventually reach Yavin,” Gilroy shared with Empire. “We’re going to narrate the story of Yavin in a way that hasn’t been done before.
Andor’s second season debuts on Disney+ on Tuesday, April 22nd, releasing three episodes initially. An additional three episodes will be released weekly following the premiere.
