ANDOR Season 2 Will Bring Back FAVORITE REBELS

The second season of the highly popular Disney+ Star Wars series, Andor, is about to premiere. This show serves as a prequel to the 2016 film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, focusing on rebel agent Cassian Andor, portrayed by Diego Luna. The first season of Andor took place five years before the events of Rogue One, depicting how Cassian got entangled with a rebel group led by Luthen Rael (played by Bill Skarsgård). In season 2, we’ll delve into the next four years leading up to Cassian’s pivotal mission to acquire the Death Star plans and the emergence of the Rebel Alliance, as it became known in the original trilogy.

The cartoon show, “Star Wars: Rebels,” shares its timeline with “Andor” and delves into a similar narrative – the evolution of a unified Rebel Alliance from disparate groups. If the trailer is an indicator, Season 2 of “Andor” seems poised to introduce some characters that were prominent in “Rebels.

Andor Season 2 is on a Collision Course With Star Wars: Rebels

In Season 1 of Andor, we witnessed a standalone tale culminating in Andor’s decision to join the Rebellion. However, Season 2 is set to delve into the evolution of a nascent Rebel Alliance. The recently released trailer for Season 2 hinted at a rebel base on Yavin-4, where we see a fleet of ships amassing. This location holds historical importance, as it was the site of the initial battle in the Galactic Civil War – The Battle of Yavin – which represented the Rebel Alliance’s first victory against the Empire.

In the second season of Rebels, the team aboard the Ghost ship – consisting of Hera Syndulla, Kanan Jarrus, Zeb Orrelios, Sabine Wren, Chopper, and Ezra Bridger – discover other resistance groups engaged in battles against the Empire. Some of these groups were instigated by a call-to-action message broadcasted by Ezra in season 1, episode 13 of Rebels, titled “Call to Action”. This message, also known as “The Bridger Broadcast”, was sent out four years before the Battle of Yavin (4BBY), which is also the year when Season 2 of Andor takes place. Since Ezra’s message reached every corner of the galaxy and served as a spark for the formation of more resistance groups, it’s plausible that Luthen’s cell too would have received this influential message.

Hera Syndulla Was on Yavin-4 With Cassian Andor & Rouge One Confirms This

In a twist of interconnected narratives, the Bridger Broadcast isn’t the solitary link between the series ‘Rebels’ and season 2 of ‘Andor’. Towards the end of ‘Rebels’, Hera Syndulla, a prominent figure, held a general position at Yavin. In ‘Rogue One’, there are two subtle hints, or Easter eggs, indicating that Hera was indeed stationed at the Yavin base. The first is a broadcast requesting Hera to report for duty, and secondly, a brief appearance of her loyal droid, Chopper. These clues suggest that Hera was concurrently active on Yavin during Cassian Andor’s time there, raising the possibility of their encounter. Given Hera’s significant role in the Rebel Alliance and her influence, it seems logical for her to feature in season 2 of ‘Andor’, and almost implausible if she didn’t.

It’s been confirmed that Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays live-action Hera in the Disney+ series “Ahsoka”. Given this, it wouldn’t be a shocking revelation if she appeared in “Andor” season 2. In fact, her inclusion could serve as an excellent chance to emphasize Hera’s significance to the rebellion for viewers who haven’t watched “Rebels”.

Adding Hera to the series “Andor” wouldn’t seem like a mere fan service move; instead, her presence would be essential and organic given her ties to the rebellion and the Yavin-4 team. Consequently, she becomes an integral part of Cassian Andor’s narrative as well.

Fans won’t get a glimpse of Hera or any other member of her “Rebels” crew interacting with Cassian Andor until the premiere of Star Wars: Andor Season 2, which airs the first three episodes on Disney+ starting April 22.
