Andy Cohen Sets the Record Straight on RHONY Cancellation Rumors

Bravo isn’t done with the Big Apple just yet.

Andy Cohen is putting an end to speculations that The Real Housewives of New York City has been terminated after its 15th season, which stirred some controversy.

During the May 13th broadcast of his SiriusXM radio show, Andy Cohen, the host of Watch What Happens Live, mentioned that we are currently in a transitional period for The Housewives. He also added an intriguing detail: last week, Bravo executives met with ten prospective new cast members for The Real Housewives of New York City.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d say, “I’m dedicating the necessary time and effort to carefully select a harmonious ensemble for our upcoming season 16, ensuring a balanced and engaging experience for our viewers.

Andy explained, “We’re in the middle of a process called seasonal casting, which is quite busy at the moment. That’s why no announcements have been made yet. Frankly, it’s strange. Things seem to be dragging on indefinitely, so I can’t offer much information.

Following the widespread reports about the termination of the long-standing reality show, here’s my take on the situation from a dedicated fan’s perspective.

In March, Racquel Chevremont, who joined season 15 more recently, hinted at an upcoming major change among the cast members.

The art curator shared with TopMob News during the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Beverly Hills on March 27 that we’re yet to learn about the future developments, but they suspect filming will resume shortly.

When queried if all the costars were coming back (the latest cast consisted of Erin Lichy, Jenna Lyons, Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, and Sai de Silva), Racquel responded, “I’m not certain. If I had to make an educated guess, I’d say it’s unlikely that everyone will return.

The television personality mentioned that viewers might encounter “perhaps a couple” of fresh faces during the upcoming season, following the announcement made by fellow debutant from Season 15, Rebecca Minkoff, who decided to leave in February.

2025 marks a fresh start for me, and recent global happenings underscore the significance of family, friends, and community more than ever. Through my journey with this franchise and its supporters, I am eager to rearrange my priorities around what matters most: designing, philanthropy, uplifting women, and nurturing my family. I am deeply thankful for the experience, the relationships, and the fans who have accompanied me during this RHONY chapter.

Bravo’s unsuccessful endeavor to showcase our country’s capital introduced four women who, if you didn’t already know their names – Mary Amons, Lynda Erkiletian, Cat Ommanney, and Stacie Scott Turner – you might easily forget. However, one woman was so eager for recognition that she managed to crash a party at the White House. More about her will be discussed later.

Who?

Vaguely familiar, but…

Once upon a time, DeShawn starred on the same TV show as NeNe Leakes. Surprising, we know.

This one-season Housewife brought nothing to the Orange County table.

In the second season of Utah’s Housewives, Jennie made quite an exit, not in a favorable manner. In January 2022, she was let go following the reemergence of her past Facebook posts that were deemed offensive and racially insensitive. After acknowledging her mistake, Jennie offered an apology; however, the harm had already been inflicted.

Her defining trait was “cougar.”

In the 16th season, Dr. Jen from Orange County was more a calm presence rather than a source of drama. Her marital issues with her husband, Ryne (or possibly Ryan), were not particularly captivating. However, one incident that stands out is when Dr. Jen got quite tipsy on wine at the Dubrows’ exceedingly awkward yet amusing dinner party.

The initial period for the nurse anesthetist could be succinctly described using a term that we fervently hope is never repeated – “Esophagus-incident.

Katie often spoke passionately about her charitable activities, yet she didn’t appear to contribute significantly on-screen. She was more like a one-time participant, and when she returned as a friend, she didn’t seem to add much value. Cutting a cast trip short? That’s not something the Housewives typically do.

During her two seasons as a full-time Housewife, Charrisse’s marital issues became quite prominent, making them among the most notable aspects of her time on the show, alongside her champagne room experience.

A one-and-done Housewife, Shamari was at least fun?

In season 12, it was refreshing to have Peggy, a new character, join the predominantly white Orange County cast. However, her presence turned out to be rather exasperating. The disputes she engaged in were peculiar, frequently revolving around words she didn’t comprehend, and her actions during the Iceland trip, where she secluded herself in her room for an entire day, demonstrated that she might not be well-suited for the lifestyle of a Real Housewife.

During her debut season, instead of building camaraderie with Nigerian costar Wendy Osefo as one might expect, Nneka’s storyline primarily revolved around an alleged accusation that Wendy’s mother was a witch. It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to witness them connecting over their shared heritage and culture, rather than engaging in conflict without resolution.

In Season 16, Noella whirled about much like an intense whirlwind of activity. Although her individual hardships (her husband James departing the country and seeking a divorce mere moments before shooting began) were somewhat intriguing, it was her recurring conflicts with queen bee Heather Dubrow that kept her from sinking too low in the rankings. With more time and another season, we might grow fonder of Mrs. Bergener.

In the first season, she was known as a peacemaker; however, in her final season, she shifted from being peaceful to continually criticizing a discarded cake and making unwarranted accusations of anti-Semitism. It’s hard to think of a faster descent from grace on “Real Housewives” than this one.

Everything Amber and her spouse Jim appeared to be filled with urgency, and it seemed that Jim found himself entangled in more dramatic situations than Amber. Quite unfortunate.

The only thing we recall about Karen is that she was a dentist, and it appeared as if none of her colleagues held her in high regard. Onto the next one!

This was a real person with a show on Bravo. We promise.

Among the more recent cast members who only appeared for a single season on “RHONY,” Jules’ time didn’t extend long enough for a top spot. Yet, she certainly brought a generous dose of drama to the series.

So unnecessary they couldn’t even get individual taglines.

Similar to Sara Al Madani, Nina embodied a multifaceted, accomplished Arab woman who skillfully combined contemporary living with age-old cultural customs. For the most part, she managed to steer clear of the drama that unfolded in season one and occasionally found herself overshadowed by her co-stars’ more prominent, boisterous personas.

Taleen proved to be a valuable member during the second season of RHODubai, however, with just one season under our observation, it’s challenging to make a comprehensive assessment of her performance.

For seasons 11 and 12, the long-time contestant on “America’s Next Top Model” took a peach role, but didn’t leave a lasting impact in the realm of “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” except for being pregnant for what seemed like her entire term. However, she did earn points for her memorable reading of Marlo Hampton during their time in Tokyo.

As a rule, we often rank a newcomer higher after observing several seasons. However, Katie made an immediate impact during the 18th season of RHOC, directly challenging long-time housewife Heather Dubrow. It takes courage to question someone as high-profile as Ms. Fancypants.

As an ardent admirer, I must admit, Sara’s consistently upbeat perspective on life was undeniably refreshing, save for that instance when she gave Caroline Brooks some unsolicited parenting advice, which didn’t go down too well. Yet, what truly sets her apart is her groundbreaking role in challenging conventional notions of what it signifies to be a contemporary Muslim woman in the Middle East. For this, we salute her courage and resilience.

The newcomers on RHONJ Season 13 seem to embody the stereotypical Jersey Housewife and got entangled in a season-long squabble about an insignificant matter, which even Andy Cohen labeled as unnecessary at the reunion. Sadly, these ex-friends didn’t add much depth during Season 14.

In the initial season, Larsa didn’t leave a significant impact and departed the show. However, when RHOM was renewed for season four in 2021 by Peacock, her plotline centered around her past friendship with Kim Kardashian and her involvement in selling foot photos on OnlyFans (among other things).

After appearing as a Bravolebrity for one season, she participated in the twelfth season of ‘Next Food Network Star’ in 2016. However, her journey on that show also ended unsuccessfully.

Sadly, she seemed to serve primarily as a target for Brandi Glanville’s criticism. Moreover, her catchphrase, which glorified an unhealthy obsession with thinness, was distasteful.
