Angel Carter wants the world to know Aaron Carter, through her eyes.
Three years following the demise of Aaron, a member of the Carter family – encompassing twins Aaron and Angel, Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys, and late sisters Leslie Carter and Bobbie Jean Carter – will reveal their story in an upcoming documentary named “The Carters: It Hurt to Love You”, providing fans with a unique insight like never before.
Sharing the intimate details of her family’s life, with both their triumphs and struggles, was challenging for Angel; however, she drew courage from the memory of her departed brother during this process.
She shared with Francesca Amiker from TopMob News during the documentary’s screening on April 9 that losing Aaron unexpectedly gave her the necessary bravery. “He is the fuel behind all my actions,” she explained, “especially in regards to the kids’ mental health foundation and this film. My drive comes from my deep love for my family and my desire for people to truly understand who he was at his essence.
Actually, it was not only Aaron who served as inspiration for Angel to produce the documentary that will debut on Paramount+ on April 15th. A discussion with her deceased sister Bobbie, who passed away in December 2023 due to a drug overdose, has also left an indelible impact on Angel.
Approximately half a year before her passing, she had a premonition that something like this could occur, and she asked me to share her tale upon her death. Therefore, I’m fulfilling that request by narrating her story here, with the intention of helping numerous individuals.
She stated, “I couldn’t let my loved ones pass away without reason. If I stood idly by, that would be the outcome. It’s crucial for us to find a purpose here. It’s essential that we aid people. It’s vital that we save lives, and that’s the essence of our mission.
Indeed, Angel’s strong devotion and heartfelt affection for her family inspired documentary director Soleil Moon Frye to take an active role.
The former Sabrina the Teenage Witch star described this remarkable individual as someone possessing immense bravery and courage. She shared that Angel has experienced great heartache, yet through it all, she’s discovered an extraordinary amount of light. Each of her fractured pieces serves to let more light in.
She expressed that her intention was to assist in establishing an environment where she could openly express herself honestly. Furthermore, she wished to share the narrative of her family.
Even though most of her family members have passed away, including her twin brother, Angel continues to sense their proximity strongly – particularly when she sets out to share their tale with the world.
She shared that Aaron, though not physically present, seems to be watching over her and finding amusement in the situation because it’s not typically her forte. His imagined laughter and smile, along with memories of her loved ones, fill her mind at this moment.
She went on to say, “They were simply ordinary, modest individuals. While they did have stardom and wealth, those weren’t the focus. Nick and Aaron were musicians not because of fame or money, but because they had a deep-seated passion for music and it was an inherent part of who they were.
The Carters: Hurts to Love You premieres on Paramount+ April 15.
