As a long-time fan of the Animal Crossing series, I must admit that the news about the shutdown of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp has left me feeling a little nostalgic and a tad melancholic. Seven years is a significant run for any game, especially a mobile one, and I’ve spent countless hours catching fish, bugs, and decorating my campsite in this charming little world.
Nintendo recently shared the news that the online services for “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp” are set to close down on November 29th at midnight (Japan Standard Time). This mobile game, which has been popular since its launch in 2017, will soon say goodbye. While it’s sad to see such a beloved game come to an end, it’s worth noting that Nintendo also announced the cessation of new updates for “Mario Kart Tour” last year. However, there is some positive news as well – Nintendo plans to introduce a new version of “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp” around the same time.
As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share some updates about the upcoming version of “Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.” While the current edition is free-to-play, the new version will be a paid title. Unfortunately, we don’t have the exact price yet, but what we do know is that it won’t include any in-app purchases. This means goodbye to beloved features like the Pocket Camp Club and Leaf Tickets.
As an excited fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming version of Pocket Camp won’t necessitate a constant internet connection! This means some online features like Market Boxes, gifts, and visiting other players’ campsites will be phased out. But don’t worry, current players can transfer their saved data to the new version by linking their Nintendo Account to their save data, which can be found in the game’s settings. Once that’s done, you should be good to go! Further details about the paid version, including its price and release date, will be announced sometime in October. Stay tuned!
After Nintendo removes gacha features from Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, it’s intriguing to ponder whether there are any intentions to introduce a paid version of this game on the Nintendo Switch. Since the Nintendo Switch is already home to the hugely popular Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Pocket Camp could provide an exciting change for those who typically don’t play mobile games. At the very least, it would serve as an engaging interim option while fans eagerly anticipate the next mainline game in the series, which probably won’t arrive until post the launch of Nintendo’s new console. For now, all we can do is stay tuned!
