Anime Fighter Sequel Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2 Confirmed for PS5, PS4

As a long-time fan of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, I can hardly contain my excitement about the upcoming sequel to The Hinokami Chronicles! Having grown up with the manga and watched every episode of the anime multiple times, I’ve been eagerly awaiting more content set in this captivating world.

On Monday, December 9th, 2024 at 12:45pm: Sega has officially announced that the upcoming Demon Slayer game will be released for both PS5 and PS4 in the year 2025. You can check out the official announcement trailer above.

In the next installment, The Hinokami Chronicles 2, we’ll pick up right where the original game ended. The storyline of the second game will encompass the Entertainment District Arc, the Swordsmith Village Arc, and the Hashira Training Arc.

Additionally, you’ll find that the cast from the initial game, along with the downloadable content characters, are all present. Furthermore, there are new faces introduced through the subsequent storylines. This brings the total to around 20 characters or so, which is a significant increase from the original roster of 18 in the previous version.

As a die-hard fan, I couldn’t help but be thrilled when I heard the news that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles is getting a follow-up! Frankly, it wasn’t a shock at all; the series has been nothing short of exceptional.

2021 saw The Hinokami Chronicles, a new arena fighter based on the initial storylines from the widely acclaimed manga and anime Demon Slayer, debut for both PS5 and PS4. This game was crafted by CyberConnect2, known for their work on the Naruto Ninja Storm series, and it’s evident that they’ve drawn upon their past experiences in its development.

This game is quite good at what it does, but, as noted in our evaluation, it seems more like the groundwork for an even superior sequel. Perhaps Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 could serve as that follow-up.

However, there’s nothing of the project to show just yet. It’ll debut at Jump Festa 2025 — which takes place in Japan later this month, on the 21st and 22nd of December. Platforms will no doubt be confirmed during the event as well.
