If you’ve been persistently speculating about the real identity of the antagonist Mrs. Flood from Doctor Who, you’re not alone – even Anita Dobson, the actress who plays her, is joining the guessing game.
In the 2023 Christmas special titled “The Church on Ruby Road,” Dobson’s character, Flood, was initially presented as a typical neighbor to Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson). However, she later demonstrated knowledge about the TARDIS and exhibited familiarity with the malevolent entity Sutekh in subsequent episodes.
She hinted playfully, ‘I was neither fully confident nor doubtful; I was on the fence about certain possibilities that crossed my mind… but you’ll need to stay tuned to find out!’
Previously, it has been confirmed by Dobson that the 2025 season of the BBC sci-fi series will uncover the identity and nature of the character known as Flood.
By the finale of this series, you’ll be able to clearly identify who she is because she becomes quite transparent about her character traits in the final episodes.

Russell T Davies, the showrunner for Doctor Who, has hinted that we’ll be seeing Mrs. Flood frequently throughout the series, leading up to the big finale – a comparison being drawn between her regular appearances and the role Susan Twist occupied in the previous season.
Previously, Susan Triad appeared regularly each week, yet she remained unaware of her own identity, according to Davies.
This individual is entirely different – she seems extremely self-assured… she subtly revealed herself towards the end of the previous season, perched on a rooftop, holding a parasol, in a white fur coat, amidst snow, declaring ‘I will inflict utter fear!’ – so it’s clear that she has no intentions of holding back, if anything, she’s ready for action!
In addition to the main characters Ncuti Gatwa and Varada Sethu, other notable actors joining the upcoming season include Freddie Fox, Christopher Chung, Rose Ayling-Ellis, and familiar faces from UNIT like Jemma Redgrave and Bonnie Langford.
I’m thrilled to share that this upcoming season boasts a total of eight captivating episodes, with the esteemed writer Russell T Davies collaborating with an impressive group of contributors: Pete McTighe, Juno Dawson, Inua Ellams, and Sharma Angel-Walfall. Each one brings their unique perspective to the table, ensuring a rich and diverse narrative.
As a keen moviegoer, I’m thrilled to share that starting this coming Saturday, April 12th, at 6:50pm, you can catch the latest episodes of “Doctor Who” right here on BBC One in the UK.
