At the Los Angeles premiere of The Accountant 2, Russ Milheim from TopMob was present on the red carpet, and it was there that director Gavin O’Connor shared some exclusive insights.
In “The Accountant 2,” Ben Affleck reprises his role as Christian Wolff, along with his brother Braxton Wolff, portrayed by Jon Bernthal. Together, they embark on a mission to expose an age-old conspiracy, with the assistance of Cynthia Addai-Robinson’s character, Marybeth Medina.
Why Anna Kendrick Didn’t Appear In The Accountant 2 – And Why She Could Return In The Accountant 3
“Don’t Be Surprised If Dana, Anna [Kendrick], Show Up in the Third Film.”
In the 2016 film “The Accountant“, Anna Kendrick takes on the role of Dana Cummings, who becomes the love interest for Ben Affleck’s character, Christian Wolff. Throughout the movie, Christian puts in a lot of effort to protect Dana from harm.
Unfortunately, despite her character surviving the storyline, you won’t see Dana in The Accountant 2.
Unfortunately, although her character survived the ordeal, Dana is not present in The Accountant 2.
- TopMob: “One thing I found really interesting about this is that the movie kind of starts off with the romantic kind of focus, then it kind of sheds it pretty quickly… But like with that in mind, how did the choice of not having a romantic focus enhance the story you were telling? And then going right off of that, was Anna Kendrick’s character ever considered to be a part of this film?”
Gavin O’Connor: No, the second movie wasn’t just another film for us; instead, it was our chance to gradually bring the two brothers together, as written by Bill [Dubuque]. The narrative aimed to address and resolve their past conflicts and disagreements.
Indeed, from the outset, the plan was to carry over this theme into the second film, as well as the third one. The latter will delve further into Chris’s ongoing quest for affection and meaningful relationships, a journey I aim to continue exploring in the third installment.
So, don’t be surprised if Dana, Anna [Kendrick] shows up in the third film.
As a die-hard fan of The Accountant series, I can tell you that while we don’t have an official go-ahead for a third movie just yet, director Gavin O’Connor is definitely planning to keep the narrative going.
In an interview on the red carpet for The Accountant 2, TopMob spoke with actors Daniella Pineda (Anaïs), Cynthia Addai-Robinson (Marybeth Medina), Gavin O’Connor (the director), Robert Morgan (Burke), Grant Harvey (Cobb), Joe Holt (Dr. Trace Williams), Allison Robertson (Justine), and Presley Alexander (Lane).
Daniella Pineda on Her Character’s Major Focus In The Accountant 2
“It Was Nice to Be the Central Theme in a Ben Affleck Movie.”
In the beginning of “The Accountant 2,” viewers are introduced to Anaïs, a character played by Daniella Pineda, who appears to be an assassin. The intrigue surrounding her true identity and past events form the central enigmas driving the plotline for this sequel.
- TopMob: “My first question is, just, how intimidating was it to go up against not only The Accountant, but Ben Affleck? I mean, like, he’s been Batman, you know.”
Daniella Pinede: Indeed, When I encountered Ben, I hadn’t associated him with Batman at all. It’s just that, as most men seem to, my male relatives often equate him with Batman and The Punisher. However, in my mind, I was more like, “Oh yes, of course, absolutely!
I was particularly excited about this new project because the actor from “Good Will Hunting,” who is now older, and I had worked together. Plus, the director of “Argo” is someone I admire, and I loved that movie. In fact, I even watched the first film in theaters.
It wasn’t until I received the script that I realized, wow! The entire film revolves around my character. It was quite rewarding to be the main focus in a Ben Affleck production.
Cynthia Addai-Robinson on the Dynamic Between Christian Wolff and Medina
“I Would Like to Think That I Would Put Him In His Place…”
asd
- TopMob: “Medina’s teaming up with Christian Wolff. Is he gonna be a bad influence on her, or are you gonna put him in his place?”
As a movie enthusiast, I find myself contemplating how I might handle their dynamic. On one hand, I’d like to believe I could set him straight, but there seems to be a hint of common ground between them. They both have valuable lessons to impart, yet they share an uncanny resemblance, much like two sides of a coin. So when it comes to their feud, it’s as if they’re relentlessly determined, almost doggedly so. In this sense, I think they share a unique bond. However, for the sake of argument, let me say that I am confident that I could be the catalyst for his transformation.
The Surprising Challenges Making The Accountant 2
“It Was So Big… The Amount of People They Had on Set…”
- TopMob: “With your time on this movie, what was the most surprising challenge you faced during your time on it?”
Robert Morgan expresses his feelings about the sheer size of the production: The number of people on set – crew, extras, cast – was immense. It made him feel like he needed to deliver a top-notch performance. Admittedly, it didn’t terrify him completely, but the pressure was there because these stories and characters have been brought to life before, so he had to excel. To be sure, it was inspiring working with Gavin O’Connor, an exceptional director who had a compelling script and created a warm environment on set.
Grant Harvey: To ensure my portrayal of the long gun, such as a sniper rifle, was authentic, I invited the very same Navy SEAL who trained me on it to this evening’s premiere. He’s with me now. His name is Ben…
He led me on a trip to the desert with several teammates, where we fired an incredible number of rounds at a mountain. It was thrilling. It’s amazing how my acting career has given me some solid skills with firearms – something I wouldn’t have expected before.
Joe Holt: I found it tough to handle five pages filled with techno jargon on diseases and neurology, but I must admit, I enjoyed the process immensely. The outcome was a delightful surprise – I discovered I was collaborating with an old friend from 20 years back, Cynthia.
Actors really thrive on tackling difficulties such as the one we just encountered. To excel in this field, one needs to be adaptable, approachable, and entertaining. It was truly rewarding.
Allison Robertson found it surprising to envision the end result and effectively collaborate with actors since they weren’t physically present.
In many instances, I acted alongside readers, which gave me ample opportunity to exercise my creativity. It was equally intriguing to watch excerpts and glimpses of the completed film, observing how the entire production unfolded.
Presley Alexander (Lane) admitted that he found himself in an unusual situation due to everyone being excessively friendly. Since they were all ready to collaborate and well-versed in understanding autism and its accommodations, it left him unsure of how to navigate the situation effectively.
I’ve become quite accustomed to expressing myself clearly, given my unique circumstances, which include traits associated with autism. However, it is important to clarify that this doesn’t make me any less of an adult woman. I simply have specific requirements, such as a preference for quiet environments and avoiding certain textures.
They said, “No, absolutely! We’ll do our best to keep the environment as tranquil as possible. We’ve got a little surprise for you, since we know bugs are your thing. Go ahead and explore them on the set.” I was taken aback, but excited. It turned out to be an amazing experience.
