The creator of Another Crab’s Treasure is launching an extensive update for the PS5 version to celebrate the Year of the Crab (a self-proclaimed title). The main attraction is a New Game+ mode that changes every enemy encounter in the underwater journey, as well as introducing new items and boss actions.
On the 21st of April, 2025, it will be accessible at no cost digitally. Additionally, a physical copy is scheduled to be released in partnership with iam8bit.
In a recent press statement, creative director Caelan Pollock shared that instead of simply increasing enemy difficulty levels, they chose a more distinctive approach. They’ve incorporated new boss moves, introduced additional items, and even revamped nearly every encounter with enemies within the game. He expresses his gratitude for the incredible support received on this project and promises an exciting reveal of what’s to come as soon as it’s ready. The wait will not be much longer!
Apart from the New Game+ feature, you’ll additionally get to unveil extra Trophies, fresh outfits for the character Krill, and a challenging Boss Rush event.
In our review for Another Crab’s Treasure on PS5, we noted that it offers a fresh perspective on the soulslike action RPG genre. Unlike traditional titles in this genre, it has a lighter tone, a stronger narrative focus, and an element of humor. However, this doesn’t mean it compromises on the genre’s essential elements. It remains a rigorous, challenging journey with engaging combat mechanics to master and numerous hidden treasures to uncover.
