Ansel Elgort is back in the public eye.
Actor known for “The Fault in Our Stars” attended the March 31 premiere of David Mamet’s “Glengarry Glen Ross” on Broadway after a period away from the limelight, at The Palace Theatre.
On the special event in New York City, Ansel wore a dark, shimmering teal suit and let his hair cascade in soft waves down to his shoulders. With a camera in hand, he strolled along the red carpet, lifting it towards the snapping photographers.
31-years-young, I was beyond thrilled to snap a selfie alongside the incredible Darren Criss as we eagerly anticipated watching the sensational new Broadway production. This masterpiece boasts an exceptional cast featuring Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk, and none other than Bill Burr!
Ansel’s debut on the first night signals another instance of understated performances he’s been delivering, following a trend of reduced public appearances since mostly staying out of the limelight.
To put it simply, most of his recent work has been tied to his character in “Tokyo Vice,” a series that’s been running since 2022 and is based on real events. In this show, Ansel takes on the role of Jake Adelstein, an American journalist. This project represents one of Ansel’s major endeavors since he starred in the 2021 remake of “West Side Story.
Ansel’s withdrawal from public attention was largely connected to an accusation of sexual misconduct made against him by a woman named Gabby, who claimed that the star of “Baby Driver” had assaulted her sexually in the past, when she was just 17 years old, in 2020.
After sharing allegations on Twitter (previously known as X), Ansel has refuted any claims suggesting he was at fault for the misdeeds.
He expressed his disappointment on Instagram over the social media posts about him from the past day, stating that they are inaccurate. While I can’t fully comprehend Gabby’s emotions, her account of the events is not a reflection of reality. I have neither physically harmed anyone in the past nor would I do so in the future.
He stated, ‘It’s accurate to say that in the year 2014, when I was 20 years old, living in New York, Gabby and I had a short-lived, lawful, and entirely consensual relationship. Regrettably, I struggled to cope with the end of that relationship.’
Ansel mentioned he “didn’t reply” to Gabby’s messages, emphasizing it as a childish and unkind action.
Although this late apology doesn’t erase my past unacceptable actions when I vanished, it’s important for me to express my sincere regret,” he added. “In hindsight, I feel repulsed and profoundly ashamed of how I conducted myself. I am genuinely sorry. Moving forward, I recognize the need for self-reflection, learning, and personal growth in empathy.
Ansel reps did not respond to TopMob News’ request for comment at the time.
