Anthony Mackie Explains Whether His Captain America Will Get Steve’s Super Serum

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), a fresh Captain America emerges, with Sam Wilson set to star in his initial solo film titled “Captain America: New Horizon“. Anthony Mackie assumes the role of Captain America, having been chosen by Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers as his successor. From now on, it’s Sam who will carry the legendary shield, stepping into a new America unlike the one his predecessor knew, and without the super soldier serum that enhanced Steve’s heroic abilities.

Sam possesses a garment enabling flight, and it offers protection, yet he’s not an unstoppable force like Steve was. It’s unlikely that will ever alter for Sam. The actor portraying this contemporary Captain America seems to emphasize his ordinary nature as a key trait, at least based on his perspective.

During a chat with ComicBook before the release of “Captain America: Brave New World”, Mackie shared his reasons for why his portrayal of Sam Wilson would never opt for the serum.

Mackie stated, “I believe he won’t take on the role. You see, Sam is like everyone’s ideal Captain America – a common man who finds himself in a leadership position, a situation we can all understand and connect with. So it’s crucial for him to avoid the serum because then he wouldn’t be just any of us striving to become Captain America.
