Antonio Banderas and Stepdaughter Dakota Johnson Reunite in Cute Pic

This heartwarming story revolves around the unique bond between actress Dakota Johnson and her stepfather, Antonio Banderas. The duo’s relationship, which started when Banderas married Johnson’s mother, Melanie Griffith, has been a source of joy and influence for Johnson throughout her life.

Dakota Johnson is back with her Paponio.

Recently, the actress from “Madame Web” had a heartwarming reunion with her stepfather, Antonio Banderas, in his native city of Málaga, Spain. He is currently directing there the Spanish adaptation of the ’70s musical “They’re Playing Our Song” at Teatro del Soho CaixaBank.

Antonio Banderas, an actor famed for his role in “The Mask of Zorro,” shared pictures on social media of himself and Dakota Johnson, who is Melanie Griffith’s daughter, at various events and in the restaurant Atrezzo, which they both own in the town. The 63-year-old man also posted a photo of them inside Atrezzo as one of several snaps.

He captioned his July 9 Instagram post, “Happiness: Dakota in Malaga!”

Antonio, who is 34 years old and is the son of actor Don Johnson, have reconnected multiple times following their parents’ divorce in 2015 after nearly two decades of marriage between them.

Dakota expressed her gratitude in 2019 at the Hollywood Film Awards, where she presented Antonio with the Hollywood Actor Award for his role in “Pain and Glory”. She shared, “I’m fortunate to be from a family with multiple marriages. Over the years, I’ve gained an exceptional bonus father who has significantly impacted my life.”

Antonio, having returned to Málaga and established his theater in the same year, goes by a unique moniker in Dakota’s circles.

In 2022, TopMob News‘ Francesca Amiker was told by him that she referred to him as “Paponio.” He explained, “I am a combination of ‘Papi’ and ‘Antonio,’ so she would often call me ‘Paponio.'”

For Dakota, her Paponio is also a role model.

“Growing up, I was accustomed to his rigorous preparation for things. At the Madame Web premiere in February, Dakota shared with TopMob News that she has adopted a disciplined lifestyle and takes care of her body through proper training, which she learned from someone who is extremely committed to this.”

Look back at Antonio and Dakota’s cutest moments over the years…

Dakota Johnson made her acting debut in “Crazy in Alabama,” a 1999 film directed by Antonio Banderas, where her mother, Melanie Griffith, also featured. In this production, Johnson portrayed the character of Sondra. It was not the first time she had worked with her stepfather on a film set; she recalled to Architectural Digest an incident from 1996 when she delivered an Easter basket to Madonna while Banderas filmed Evita alongside the pop icon in Budapest.

Banderas continues to hold dear those precious memories of the past, as he once expressed, “She is my daughter, and I hold a deep affection for her. I have carried her on my shoulders as we traveled the globe together.”

At the 2017 Academy Awards, Johnson left a golden impression in a Gucci gown. However, this wasn’t her debut at the prestigious event. In fact, back in 2000, a decade-old Johnson accompanied her parents to the Oscars. Dressed in purple, she even conducted interviews alongside them. Memorably, she turned to Griffith and queried, “Is it?” when Joan Rivers asked if it was her first time at the Oscars.

Dakota referred to me as “Paponio” during her childhood, a sweet fusion of “papa,” meaning “daddy” in Spanish, and “Antonio.” I functioned as both her “papa” and “Antonio,” thus earning the nickname “Paponio.”

Johnson got emotional when she presented an award to Banderas at the 2019 Hollywood Film Awards.

Born into a family with multiple marriages, Johnson fortunate enough to gain an exceptional bonus father. She reflected, “My dad is Don Johnson, but over the years, I’ve come to recognize that my stepfather has had a profound impact on my life.” At age six, my mother wed a man who introduced us to an extraordinary realm of creativity, culture, and a precious little sister.

With tears in his eyes, Johnson went on to say, “Antonio Banderas suddenly entered our world. He was full of life, energy, and humor, and though his English was unconventional, we found it utterly captivating. He held a deep love for my mother and us, her children, expressing it in the most passionate and boisterous ways possible. This transformation touched each of our lives in profound ways.”

Upon receiving the accolade, I graciously acknowledged those who have supported me throughout my journey. In particular, I couldn’t forget to mention Stella, my dear sister, who is only 25 years old.

I’d like to express my deep gratitude to two special individuals in my life. One of them is present here with us, dear Dakota. Your endearment for me by calling me “papi” holds a profound significance. It brings me immense joy that you continue to address me this way, and trust me, I cherish it deeply!

During the 31st Palm Springs International Film Festival about a few weeks ago, TopMob News reported that Banderas was taken by surprise when Johnson delivered such an emotional speech.

I was completely taken aback, I must admit. I knew she was set to deliver a speech, yet the way she went about it was an utter surprise to me. She never shared a hint of what to expect.

The realization struck him deeply: The past twenty years, filled with shared memories, held equal significance for her.

“For all those years, Melanie and I believed and experienced strong feelings towards each other,” Banderas acknowledged. “However, looking back, I realized that our time together wasn’t solely about us; it encompassed our family as well. The value of those years far outweighed the sum of just Melanie and me.”
