On June 5th, Hamster’s latest collection titled “Arcade Archives 2” – their series of revamped arcade games – will debut for both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as the previously declared Switch version. The announcement was made by the developer themselves.
Here is an overview of the game, via Hamster:
Besides the “Original Mode,” “High Score Mode,” and “Caravan Mode” found in the Arcade Archives collection, the upcoming release of Arcade Archives 2 Ridge Racer offers an additional feature – the “Time Attack Mode.
In “Time Trial Mode,” players race against each other to finish the game as swiftly as possible, with the primary emphasis being on speed rather than the points or score earned during gameplay.
Additionally, functionality has been significantly enhanced.
Instead of a single save point, multiple options have been added, as well as a rewind function enabling players to restart the gameplay, and a fast-forward option for immediate game entry.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve now incorporated Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology. This means the gaming experience will be even more authentic, mirroring the original arcade game’s feel!
Experience timeless arcade hits which shaped a period, now even more enjoyable and user-friendly in the updated version known as “Arcade Archives 2“.
Ridge Racer is a racing game released by NAMCO (Bandai Namco Entertainment) in 1993.
Immerse yourself in the world of virtual reality using System 22’s 3D CG system. This game offers four modes, each with three difficulty levels: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced, as well as a Time Trial mode where you race against a rival car to set the fastest time. Furthermore, an upgraded DX version is available, offering support for H-shifter and clutch controls.
