As a seasoned Emmerdale viewer with a heart full of village tales and a mind brimming with character histories, I find myself gripped by a sense of unease after tonight’s episode (13th September 2024). The barn explosion has left more questions than answers, and the cryptic dialogue between the villagers is making me wonder if we might be saying goodbye to one or two familiar faces.
The soap opera “Emmerdale” has got us speculating if there might be unexpected fatalities in the near future, given that the fallout from the barn explosion was shown on the 13th of September 2024.
In my film review, when I stumbled upon character Will Taylor (portrayed by Dean Andrews), he was found injured, and not far off, a device that appeared to belong to him was ringing.
In the following scene, Jimmy King (Nick Miles), his business partner, was attempting a call to his abusive nephew Tom King (James Chase), who mysteriously vanished. It wasn’t hard to ponder if Tom had been ensnared in the peril at the barn, possibly misplacing his phone during the ordeal.
Indeed, since Will received calls from a blackmailer and it’s possible that Jimmy’s name could have been mentioned if the phone belonged to Tom, this theory might appear somewhat flimsy. However, it’s important to remember that this wasn’t the only piece of evidence we uncovered during our investigation.
Jimmy pondered the idea that it might have been Cain Dingle, Belle’s protective brother (played by Jeff Hordley), who had assaulted the missing Tom. Meanwhile, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) expressed a fearful wish that there was nothing left of Tom.
Belle too expressed concern that Cain might have caused this incident, and a series of hints about what was to come unfolded tonight. Later on, Belle was informed that Tom would never harm her anymore. Could this be confirmed, as it seems Tom met his end off-stage?
Additionally, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), last spotted on Monday, was nowhere to be found. Instead, it was John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) who assisted Nate in avoiding a confrontation with Moira (Natalie J Robb) about her portrayal of him in an unfavorable manner.
It seemed odd that Nate chose to depart from the village without saying farewell, leaving behind an unusual and somewhat puzzling finale, given the stressful situation at hand.
Tracy (played by Amy Walsh), who is no longer with him, informed her half-sister Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) about the fire. She mentioned her fear that Nate might have been trapped within it.
Tracy shared that she learned Nate had departed earlier, and then unexpectedly stated, with a tinge of sadness, that their daughter Frankie wouldn’t get to meet him anymore.
Vanessa emphasized that Nate wasn’t “absent permanently” and would always be available for the young girl. However, is it possible that he might not be there, either out of sight or in reality?
Is Emmerdale suggesting that if we don’t hear from Nate again, it might mean he won’t be involved anymore, given that Tracy left him an emotional message pleading for him not to disappoint Frankie – a commitment he had always kept in their relationship.
Ultimately, Chas Dingle (played by Lucy Pargeter) fervently hoped that Cain had completely destroyed detestable Tom – is this wishful thinking, or has ITV’s soap opera hinted at deaths among villagers due to a fire? Might it be possible that Tom or Nate were clandestinely killed in the explosion?
Has Tom, the wicked one, and Nate, the innocent, both perished? This could bring a sense of resolution for Belle, yet leaves Cain in deep sorrow, as his relationship with Nate was strained.
Emmerdale airs Monday to Friday at 7:30pm on ITV1. Stream on ITVX.
