As a lifelong spectator of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, I must say this year was nothing short of spectacular! From Billy Porter’s electrifying performance to Kylie Minogue’s timeless hit, it seemed like the stars themselves had descended upon us.
These stars didn’t let the rain put a damper on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
On November 28, Billy Porter began the 98th yearly Christmas procession in New York City with a delightful rendition of the song “Ease On Down the Road” from the production The Wiz, which was appreciated by the audience.
Kylie Minogue continued to liven up the event by performing her hit song, “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”, dressed stylishly in a black and red leather jumpsuit.
In the meantime, Dasha kept on dancing and singing her hit “Austin,” showing no signs of her boots slowing her down.
2023’s parade was led by Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb, and Al Roker from Today, with this being Hoda’s last time hosting the event before she leaves her co-anchor position on January 10. Craig Melvin, a longtime personality from Today, will assume her role starting January 13.
The 2024 version of the extended parade boasted a diverse lineup with at least 28 performers, catering to various tastes. Acts such as Ariana Madix from “Vanderpump Rules”, Charli D’Amelio, Chloe Bailey, Coco Jones, Dan + Shay, Idina Menzel, Jennifer Hudson, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots, Joey McIntyre, Sebastián Yatra, T-Pain, and The War and Treaty were among those who graced the stage.
Apart from boasting an illustrious cast, the parade showcased the comeback of much-loved balloons such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Snoopy (the Beagle Scout) from the Peanuts universe, and Stuart the Minion from Despicable Me films. It also included fresh faces for 2024 like Marshall from Paw Patrol, Goku from Dragon Ball, and the Elf on a Shelf character.
Indeed, without a doubt, the most radiant figure in the whole spectacle was none other than Santa Claus. He brought an end to the lengthy event by warmly acknowledging the crowd from one of an astounding number of 34 floats.
