Ariel Winter’s Shocking Secret: How She Goes Undercover to Catch Predators

Ariel Winter is volunteering for an important cause.

As a conscientious advocate for safe digital spaces, I’ve been lending my time and skills to SOSA (Safe From Online Sex Abuse) over the past few years. This organization is instrumental in identifying and apprehending online sexual predators.

She shared with People in an interview on May 7 that they are a truly outstanding organization. They work tirelessly to combat child sex trafficking online, which often leads to offline trafficking.

Ever since Luke Benward and I watched the TV series “Undercover Underage,” showcasing SOSA’s extraordinary work, I found myself deeply moved and inspired. The story resonated so profoundly within me that it sparked an unrelenting desire to contribute in some way.

The show really resonated with me deeply since I found myself in similar situations as the victim who was targeted both in person and online numerous times when I was younger, the 27-year-old shared. It made me feel, ‘Wow, if only I could assist somehow.’ I can’t promise a solution, but I really want to contribute to making things better by helping remove some of these individuals from the streets.

After that point, Ariel has taken part in the covert missions of the organization regarding her role.

She confessed that it was quite unsettling. They construct fake rooms as a precaution if the suspect wishes to inspect their spaces; they also adopt aliases. The situation is indeed grave.

Besides expressing her astonishment at the high number of individuals who assume the role of online predators, Ariel pointed out that although it’s gratifying, this line of work can also be quite demanding on a personal level.

She clarified, “I didn’t expect it to stir up my past traumas as much as it did,” she said. “When someone pretends to be a 12-year-old and talks about what they intend to do to your 12-year-old body… it’s incredibly difficult.

Over the years, as Ariel continued assisting SOSA, its founder Roo Powell noted that she had grown to be an indispensable team member.

Roo expressed his gratitude that she’s supporting our cause,” he said. “It’s incredibly significant, and it’s helped immensely in educating both parents and children about the potential hazards on the internet.

As a lifestyle advocate, I firmly believe that one of my key priorities lies in spreading understanding – particularly among caregivers – regarding various aspects of life. This is an essential part of my mission.

Ariel pointed out that many people choose to ignore or deny the reality of a certain issue in today’s digital world, but it is indeed widespread. Children are particularly at risk of being taken advantage of online. Parents often believe their children, who have loving parents, strong social connections, and active lives, will be immune to such incidents. However, this type of exploitation can happen to anyone, regardless of the circumstances.
