Aryna Sabalenka Details Mental Health After Konstantin Koltsov's Death

As an ardent fan of Aryna Sabalenka, I can’t help but admire her resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Her journey is a testament to the indomitable spirit that tennis players possess, and her ability to bounce back from personal tragedies while maintaining her professional prowess is truly inspiring.

Aryna Sabalenka is ready for a comeback after a much-needed break.

Due to a shoulder injury, the tennis star had to miss Wimbledon and the Paris 2024 Olympics, but she also explained that the breakup with her ex-boyfriend Konstantin Koltsov in March played a role in her decision to withdraw from certain summer tournaments.

Aryna shared with The Guardian that she experienced a difficult loss when she lost her father. To cope, tennis became a means for her to move forward. She felt the need to continue, to keep playing and focusing on her career as a way to distinguish her personal and professional lives.

After her former partner’s suicide, she persisted in competing in events in Miami and Stuttgart. However, her emotional wellbeing didn’t get better, and it began to affect her physically. In the end, the 26-year-old came to understand that she was being overly critical of herself.

Aryn explained, “I had been dealing with numerous health issues due to not taking breaks.” It was an extremely emotional and distressing period, which also impacted my mental well-being significantly at that time.

However, I made the decisions I did, and though they came with their consequences, I’m grateful for tennis in my life. It has guided me through tough times and made me stronger. – Aryna (currently dating Georgios Frangulis)

Aryna and Konstantin, who spent 18 years playing professional ice hockey together, were first rumored to be a couple in June 2021. When he passed away, there was no official announcement of their split, but later on, Aryna confirmed that they had actually parted ways before his demise.
