As 2024 Ends, Where Is Hollow Knight: Silksong?

As a veteran gamer who has navigated through countless delays and cancellations, I can’t help but feel like I’ve seen this dance before with Hollow Knight: Silksong. Six years of waiting for a sequel is no small feat, especially when all we have to show for it are snippets of gameplay and trailers. It feels like Team Cherry is playing a game of cat-and-mouse with us fans, teasing us with just enough to keep us hooked but never quite delivering the full package.

As we approach the end of 2024, a single thought lingers in my mind: “Where is Hollow Knight: Silksong?” This isn’t an uncommon query among fans of Hollow Knight, given that it’s been over five years since we last heard about it. However, the game’s absence throughout 2024 has been rather peculiar, sparking a growing sense of worry and intrigue about its development progress.

If you’re not fully caught up on the extended delay for “Hollow Knight: Silksong”, its sequel was initially announced by Team Cherry as far back as February 2019. Now, we’re just days away from the six-year anniversary of this reveal, and unfortunately, there’s still not much more information available beyond what was shared in 2019. Over these past six years, we’ve been treated to a few standalone trailers for “Silksong”, along with the general assurance that it will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC systems.

Apart from what we already know, we haven’t received much new information on Hollow Knight: Silksong from Team Cherry by 2024. In fact, the last concrete update they provided about Silksong was when they announced a delay in its release. Originally, it was expected to launch in the first half of 2023, but due to internal reasons, the team decided to postpone the game’s action title release indefinitely. Since that initial release window has passed by more than a year, it seems quite unusual that no significant updates have been shared since then.

By the time we reach 2025, I have a strong feeling that “Silksong” will be almost upon us. While there’s no official confirmation as of now, I can hardly imagine we’ll wait another year without the game being launched. It’s possible that Team Cherry is simply biding their time until a new platform like the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 hits the market, so they can introduce “Silksong” as a standout title on the new hardware.

No matter when Hollow Knight: Silksong comes out, I’m thrilled to eventually get a chance to play it because everything we’ve seen so far about the sequel looks amazing. Here’s hoping that the final version not only meets high expectations but also makes the wait worthwhile.
