As EastEnders’ Chris Clenshaw exits – what’s the best comeback devised by the soap boss? Vote now

As a long-time EastEnders enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of Walford’s most notorious residents, I must say Chris Clenshaw‘s tenure as executive producer has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The return of beloved characters has breathed new life into the soap, making it feel like home once again.

Chris Clenshaw has decided to leave his position as executive producer on the soap opera “EastEnders” after holding it for three years. He’ll continue in this role until February 2025, marking the show’s 40th anniversary.

During his time as the head of the show, Clenshaw has orchestrated some remarkable plotlines, including the unforgettable Sixmas saga and everything that came after it, as well as Cindy Beale’s (Michelle Jones) return to Walford following her death.

Currently, one thing that Clenshaw particularly enjoys during his tenure on EastEnders is resurrecting characters, which often brings joy to both the actors and the audience. Why not make this a collective decision by holding a poll?

Approximately twenty characters have returned to the soap opera since Clenshaw became executive, and this number doesn’t account for those yet to return, such as Michael French and Louisa Lytton.

But of those who have returned to screens already, who has been your favourite?

There seems to be an issue with the quiz, please try again.

It’s high time you cast your vote! Which character’s comeback under Chris Clenshaw’s leadership as executive producer has given you the most joy? There are plenty of great options to pick from!

Over the past few months, fans have seen Laurie Brett reprise her character, Jane Beale, a role she last played in 2017.

Previously, Patsy Palmer reappeared as Bianca Butcher. Initially, this was to support Whitney Dean’s departure plotline as Shona McGarty left the soap opera, but now she’s been on a mission to get her sister Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) out of prison.

Some notable returns in the storyline include Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine), Alfie Moon (Shane Richie), and Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff). Each of these characters is back in Walford once again.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
