As We Descend launches in Early Access on March 27

The roguelike deckbuilding game titled “As We Descend” will debut in Early Access on PC through Steam on March 27th, according to its developers Box Dragon and publishers Coffee Stain Publishing. A demonstration of the game is currently accessible as part of the February 2025 edition of Steam Next Fest.

Box Dragon’s game director Kevin Chang expressed his enthusiasm in a press statement about releasing the game, “As We Descend,” into Early Access this coming March. For the past year or so, valuable feedback from our playtesters has been instrumental in molding the game into its current form. We’re eager to welcome more roguelike enthusiasts who share our passion, as we collaborate on transforming “As We Descend” into a groundbreaking title in the genre while striving for 1.0. Exciting updates are lined up to ensure an exceptional gaming experience from the start.

In the game “As We Descend“, you need to strike a balance between fulfilling the City-Vault’s wishes and managing the battlefield. By strategically using your deck of cards, ensure that both the city and its inhabitants can endure their descent safely.

Key Features

Assemble Your Forces – Recruit new unit squads by utilizing scavenged technology. Each squad is a specialist archetype with its own set of cards which can be added, removed, and upgraded. Deploy the right composition of special forces in order to tailor your deck for a given battle challenge.
Plan and Strategize – The city is the last bastion of humanity and serves as your main base. Familiarize yourself with its denizens so you can survive its feudal politics and gain allies. Make the most of your limited resources so you can prepare sufficient advantages for the battlefield.
Outsmart Your Foes – Against titanic enemies, you must rely on not just strength but wit. Adapt your tactics by reacting to enemy intents. Master the combat zone system: reposition your forces between the Defender Zone and the Support Zone in order to dodge enemy attacks and set up a defensive line.
Randomized Runs – Each descent is a new challenge, pitting you against a new face of the twisting world as you attempt to break through the three biomes to enter the core.
