Ashley Tisdale’s Daughter Thought Zac Efron Was Her Dad

Ashley Tisdale’s child, Jupiter, was captivated by Troy Bolton as she watched “High School Musical” for the initial time.

In the popular Disney movie series, the actress portraying Sharpay Evans shared that at first, the three-year-old didn’t recognize Zac Efron as anyone other than her fictional character’s father, Christopher French.

Ashley mentioned during the January 15th episode of the Breaking Beauty podcast that approximately a year ago, her husband showed her High School Musical, and ever since then, she’s been under the impression that Zac Efron is her father.

The 39-year-old went on to say, “She exclaimed, ‘Daddy!’, but I responded, ‘Not this time, not that.’ This is due to the fact she has dark hair.

On occasions other than Ashley’s debut in High School Musical, Jupiter had also watched her mother on-screen. In fact, the star of Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure shared that in November, her daughter was thrilled to catch a glimpse of her mom during a livestream premiere of the movie Wicked.

Ashley mentioned, “She keeps saying, ‘I need mommy on the carpet, I need mommy on the carpet,'” referring to the excitement her daughter shows when she saw Ashley at the Wicked premiere, an event unrelated to Ashley. It’s amusing because her child is so proud of her being on the carpet. The whole scene is really adorable.

The actress, who is the mother of 4-month-old Emerson with Christopher, expressed her belief that Jupiter may not fully comprehend her profession. Yet, it seems Jupiter is beginning to understand her celebrity status.

In my perspective, although she’s only three, I can sense a curiosity stirring within her about why people snap photos with me.

At a Taylor Swift concert in Miami during October, Ashley remembered experiencing heightened fan interest when she was there with Jupiter.

The actress explained, “She asked me, ‘Mommy, why are they taking photos with you? I was stumped on how to respond, so I simply replied, ‘I’m not sure.’ It seems she believes that my job is just to take pictures with people. That’s what life is about for her.

Read on to find out 25 secrets about High School Musical

Originally, the title for the movie High School Musical was only a temporary choice since Disney and the production team were still undecided about the final name.

2. Both Hunter Parrish and Sterling Knight attempted to secure the part of Troy Bolton, ultimately unsuccessful as Zac Efron was chosen instead. Nevertheless, they later shared screen time with him in the film “17 Again,” portraying his high school rival/daughter’s unimpressive boyfriend and his son respectively.

3. In contrast, Corbin Bleu, initially auditioned for the role of Ryan Evans, sharing with Buzzfeed that “At the moment, I wasn’t aware about the character of Chad Danforth.” However, upon securing the part, Corbin was the one who created all of the catchphrases that appeared on Chad’s signature graphic t-shirts. He disclosed that the collection is stored in a box in his garage.

4. Prior to securing the roles as Sharpay and Taylor, Ashley Tisdale and Monique Coleman initially tried out for the part of Gabriella. In reflecting on her audition, Monique commented, “I could tell I was awful.” She added, “I didn’t feel confident in my singing and dancing abilities.

5. Meanwhile, Lucas Grabeel initially auditioned for the role of Troy, but quickly realized he wouldn’t be cast: “I followed Drew Seeley into the part,” he shared with Buzzfeed. “He ended up singing as Troy in the movie. I could hear him because it was a thin-walled room, so I thought, oh no, I don’t stand a chance because that guy is amazing.

6. By the way, here’s an interesting tidbit: Drew was the one who sang as Troy in the initial HSM film. Later, due to scheduling issues, he stepped in for Zac Efron during the High School Musical tour performances. However, for the subsequent movies, it was only Zac’s voice you heard on Troy’s tracks.

In a conversation with the Orlando Sentinel, Zac expressed, “That was a significant issue for me. I needed to firmly assert myself and argue to be heard on those recordings. Initially, when all the tracks were recorded, my voice wasn’t included. To be honest, I didn’t receive much of an explanation. It just seemed to occur that way, which unfortunately placed me in an uncomfortable situation.

7. As stated in Rolling Stone’s renowned feature article about Zac, affectionately known as “The New American Heartthrob,” it was revealed that about one third of teenage girls in the United States had a poster of him on their bedroom walls (however, this statistic was attributed to an unspecified website).

8. Off-screen and on-screen, the rivalry between Ashley and Lucas was no less intense…at least initially. As Ashley confessed in a video they made together for her YouTube channel, “We weren’t friends; we didn’t get along…we even hated each other.” Lucas echoed this sentiment, stating that their relationship started on rocky grounds during the first movie, but over time they grew to be good friends. How wonderful!

In an interview with Buzzfeed, I shared that I advocated for Ryan’s character to delve into his sexuality from the start. “Upon reading the script,” I recounted to [Kenny Ortega], “I immediately said, ‘Hey Kenny, is Ryan gay? It might not be as openly expressed due to Disney Channel’s standards, but I think it should be a part of his character development.’ And he replied, ‘Consider this: You can portray a character who is young, passionate about theater, and an artist. Let’s approach it from that perspective.'” Kenny then spoke about his personal life and shared, “I see a lot of myself in Ryan. I knew I was gay in high school, but I didn’t tell anyone.” It was all about making the portrayal authentic.

10. Lucas is the one responsible for designing Ryan’s well-known jazz patterns, as well as developing vocal warm-up routines for both Ryan and Sharpay. According to Lucas, these jazz patterns were a playful tribute to two choreographers he had when he was young who often included jazz squares in their performances. Although they never explicitly stated that everyone loves jazz squares, they became a fitting element, so Lucas aimed to make it a signature style for Ryan to incorporate a jazz square in every number.

11. On the film set, Kenny maintained a jar for yawns, where anyone who yawned had to make a contribution to it. For approximately five years, during Christmas, he would donate the collected money to a charity, specifically the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Utah, in our names. This was pointed out by Monique.

12. Following the wrap of the initial film, Monique found an eviction notice upon returning home and was grappling with mounting bills, much like Lucas who faced difficulties securing another job post the HSM series.

Following the record-breaking success of the initial movie, Disney allowed fans to have a say in various aspects of the much-anticipated sequel, such as the slogans on Chad’s t-shirts, the type of sandwiches Troy and Gabriella would eat on their date, and a brief cameo by Miley Cyrus, who was famously known for her role in Hannah Montana.

14. Much like her character Ms. Darbus from East High, Alyson Reed in reality also guided the students beyond their on-screen roles. In fact, she ended up being Monique’s acting coach off-camera. As Monique shared with Buzzfeed, “She was the one I felt most at ease with. I truly believe it was her who helped me regain my confidence.

15. Originally, the idea for the third installment in our beloved franchise was a spooky Halloween production titled “Haunted High School Musical.” However, thankfully, this concept was abandoned, as Zac Efron shared with MTV, “Indeed, I don’t believe the haunted angle stuck around for long.” The third and last film, the sole HSM movie to grace the big screen, was then renamed “High School Musical: Senior Year.

16. Back in the day, I was this close to starring alongside Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens in High School Musical 3, taking on the role of Tiara Gold, Sharpay’s fierce new rival. But alas, the chance slipped through my fingers when Selena Gomez gracefully declined it, stating, “I didn’t feel ready for it.” She went on to express her ambition to tackle more complex roles post-Disney, aiming to be recognized as a serious actress throughout her career. Interestingly enough, Ali Lohan was also rumored to have auditioned for the part that eventually landed in Jemma McKenzie-Brown’s hands.

17. Chad’s character introduces his father, David Reivers, for the first time in the third part of the series. Interestingly, Corbin Bernsen’s real-life dad, David Reivers, portrays Mr. Danforth. (They had previously acted as father and son in both “Jump In!” and “Free Style.”)

18. In an interview with Buzzfeed, Ashley confessed that she kept most of Sharpay’s costumes from the initial film, stating, “I may have thought I would wear them on the red carpet at one point.” When Disney attempted to retrieve the items later, Ashley mimicked Sharpay by declaring her preference for sticking toothpicks into her eyes over giving up the clothes. “I said, ‘No, these belong to me.’ As a result, none of the outfits from the first movie are with Disney. I have them all.

19. When the initial film was released, spectators speculated about potential romances among the cast members, with many assuming Zac Efron and I were a couple. “I recall people believing that I dated Zac Efron due to our frequent appearances on magazine covers, as we were promoting the first movie,” Ashley reminisced. “Therefore, it was amusing to us because he was clearly dating someone else, and he is my best friend.” (In this version, I have attempted to make the text more conversational and easier to read.)

20. Indeed, Zanessa was quite a sensation among HSM fans. Their real-life romance sent many into a frenzy, and for four years they were one of young Hollywood’s favorite couples. However, their love story ended in 2010 after four blissful years together. Vanessa shared on the THR’s Awards Chatter podcast that the relationship began quite naturally and she was incredibly thankful for it during that period in her life.

21. During the filming of the movies, there was a time they had a disagreement, which took place during HSM 3. As she recollected, “One instance comes to mind when we argued and it occurred during rehearsals.” She also recalled Kenny Ortega looking worried as he approached the corner, his face expressing concern like, “Oh dear, is our movie about to collapse?

In 2016, Disney Channel put out a call for auditions for “High School Musical 4,” seeking fresh talent to carry on the legacy of East High Wildcats within the franchise. Jeffrey Hornaday, known for directing and choreographing popular Disney Channel productions like “Teen Beach Movie” and “Teen Beach 2,” was slated to oversee the new film, but unfortunately, it never got made.

23. The soundtrack for the High School Musical movie was the best-selling album in 2006, as reported by Billboard, having sold approximately 3.7 million copies. It also became the first TV movie soundtrack to reach No. 1 on the sales chart.

24. To this day, “High School Musical 2” remains among Disney Channel’s most successful Original Movies ever, captivating a staggering 17.2 million viewers. As Disney Channel president Gary Marsh stated then, “This was our Super Bowl”. He further added that the success of High School Musical had transcended the film and had become a full-blown phenomenon.

25. On a modest budget of only $11 million, the movie “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” raked in an impressive $250 million globally in 2008, opening at the top spot on the box office charts during its initial week.
