As a seasoned gamer with countless hours immersed in the vast oceans of Black Flag, the news about the potential remake of this beloved masterpiece has me ecstatic! The thought of sailing the open seas again on the Jackdaw with Edward Kenway is enough to send shivers down my spine. However, hearing reports suggesting a release as early as 2025 has left me both excited and slightly anxious.
Information hints that one of the Assassin’s Creed titles being developed by Ubisoft last year could potentially be a complete remake of the highly praised 2013 game, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Although this hasn’t been officially verified, Ubisoft did acknowledge earlier this year that they were indeed working on several remakes within the Assassin’s Creed series. Recently, there might be news about when the Black Flag remake will be released.
Contrary to what many might expect, it seems that Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag’s remake could be nearer its release date than previously thought, according to a report by Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming.
According to Henderson’s report, the remake was initially set for release in November 2025. However, with Assassin’s Creed Shadows being delayed until February of next year, it seems likely that other upcoming titles in the series may also experience delays. As mentioned in the report, Marc-Alexis Côté, vice president and executive producer of Assassin’s Creed, stated in an internal email that Shadows’ delay “will ripple through the rest of the Assassin’s Creed release schedule”.
According to Henderson’s statement, the solitary multiplayer game “Assassin’s Creed Invictus” is expected to launch in November 2025, but there’s uncertainty if this timeline has been altered as well. Earlier reports suggested that the next major installment in the series following “Shadows,” known as “Hexe,” was aiming for a 2026 release. However, if the remake of “Black Flag” is moved to 2026, it’s probable that the release date for “Hexe” will also be pushed back.
The action-adventure title “Assassin’s Creed: Shadow” is set to release on February 14 of the coming year, available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC systems. It’s rumored that a cooperative gameplay mode will be introduced after its initial launch.
