Assassin’s Creed Game Gets Unexpected Update 11 Years Later

2014 saw an update for an Assassin’s Creed game, unexpectedly provided by Ubisoft. At that time, the Assassin’s Creed series was moving into a new phase. The glory days of Assassin’s Creed, marked by games like Assassin’s Creed 2, Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, had passed. On the other hand, the open-world RPG revival that started in 2017 with Assassin’s Creed Origins was yet to come. When people think of Assassin’s Creed, they often recall the classic older games or the more recent RPG titles. During this transitional period, Ubisoft continued to release new Assassin’s Creed games.

A standout title from the Assassin’s Creed series during this era is the 2014 release, Assassin’s Creed Rogue. This was the seventh primary game in the series, with its storyline bridging the gap between the events of Assassin’s Creed III (released in 2012) and Assassin’s Creed Unity (from 2013). Fans of Assassin’s Creed might recall that it was launched on the same day as another game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Unity. Rogue shares some connections with this latter game. Ubisoft Sofia developed Rogue, making it the final Assassin’s Creed game designed for the seventh generation of gaming consoles, which includes the PS3 and Xbox 360.

The game is interesting in part because it allows you to take on the role of a Templar instead of the usual Assassin character. Normally, Templars are portrayed as antagonists within the Assassin’s Creed universe. However, despite this twist, the game received mixed feedback, with Metacritic scores ranging between 71 and 74, depending on the specific platform it was played on.

Today, Assassin’s Creed Rogue for PC got an update via Steam, including the integration of Steam achievements. This addition isn’t just for new players, as the achievements have been retroactively applied. If you’ve played the game before, you might find that you’ve already unlocked some or even all of these newly added Steam achievements!

Ubisoft announced that players can now earn Steam achievements with Assassin’s Creed Rogue. By tackling challenges, you can unlock these rewards as you uncover Shay’s story and ultimately choose to defect from the Assassin Brotherhood and align with the Templar Order. Whether you’re a dedicated completionist or a more casual player, this choice is for you! Previously completed tasks will also earn achievements retroactively.
