There’s been chatter for a while now that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag might be getting a remake, and things appear to be gaining momentum. Not long after Ubisoft subtly hinted at the game on social platforms, more whispers are spreading, this time for an unusual reason. Art studio Pure Arts has a collection of 1/8 scale Assassin’s Creed statues featuring characters from the series. During a recent live stream, they were asked about the absence of Edward Kenway (the protagonist of Black Flag) in their lineup. Their answer was puzzling and seemed to suggest some uncertainty regarding whether or not a Black Flag remake has been officially confirmed yet.
In the broadcast, Pure Arts subtly suggested that no Edward statue announcement was made due to “something happening with Edward” and their products adapting to it appropriately. The hosts nearly disclosed the development of a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, but just barely managed to avoid doing so. The conversation felt uneasy, suggesting two individuals trying to discuss something they may not yet be authorized to reveal. The exchange was posted on X/Twitter by @TheRealZephryss, and can be found in the embedded tweet below.
It’s clear that something significant is unfolding with the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake, as a new line of figurines from Pure Arts has been revealed, except for one – the figure representing Edward. When inquired about it, they responded cryptically. [Source: @TheRAFITI69#AssassinsCreed #Ubisoft]

Just like with any gossip or leak, it’s wise to approach this information cautiously until an official confirmation is made. However, there have been many whispers about a remake of “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”. These murmurs have been circulating since at least 2023, when Kotaku initially reported them. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming claims that the remake was initially scheduled for release in 2025, but it might have been delayed until 2026. This potential delay could prove beneficial for the company, as it would provide ample space for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” to establish itself without encroaching on sales. The game has already achieved significant success, with over three million players across various platforms within its first week of release.
2013 saw the debut of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, which graced PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii U consoles before expanding to others. This game is often hailed as one of the series’ crowning achievements, making a remake an enticing prospect for Ubisoft. Here’s hoping that the rumors about its release next year are true, so we can get an official confirmation and end all the speculation once and for all.
Over the past few years, it’s been thrilling to see Ubisoft pouring significant effort into remaking some of their classic games that have held a special place in our hearts. I can confirm that remakes for “Splinter Cell” and “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” are underway, although we don’t have an exact release date just yet. Here’s hoping for an announcement about the remake of “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” soon!
