The long-awaited game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, is now available, but one aspect of it has sparked debate at its launch. The controversy revolves around the portrayal of actual Japanese temples and shrines in the game, where they can be destroyed and drenched in blood during gameplay. Reportedly, the Japanese Prime Minister even addressed concerns about whether such depictions could inspire tourists to replicate such actions in reality, as suggested by IGN. Now, it seems that Ubisoft has responded swiftly to this issue with a day-one update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
In regards to the latest update for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, you won’t find official patch notes on Steam or any other platform. Nevertheless, IGN claims to have received confirmation from Ubisoft that an update has been discreetly rolled out to address issues raised by some Japanese players. The update brings some bug fixes and enhancements for clipping, lighting, and navigation, which should lead to a smoother gaming experience for everyone playing “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, we’re making some tweaks to the gameplay. For instance, we’ve decided to make certain significant items within sacred sites like temples and shrines indestructible. This means no more accidental destruction of real-world counterparts for these Japanese locations, but you can still break smaller items like drums or bowls.
Additionally, the patch eliminates bleeding from unarmed civilians in these holy places, so there’ll be no bloodshed during any fights that occur inside temples and shrines. These changes are globally applicable, even though they were primarily prompted by concerns from Japan. So, keep your eyes peeled for these updates in Assassin’s Creed Shadows today!
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Patch Notes for Release Day Update
Although Ubisoft hasn’t publicly posted the details of the update for today’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows on their official site, they confirmed these changes in a conversation with IGN.
- Players no longer getting stuck inside movable objects after dodging forward and interacting with them in kofuns
- Fix for procedural weapons being removed incorrectly when selling items
- Adjustments to prevent players from going out of bounds when proning against objects
- Improved horse navigation, reducing issues with turning and blocked paths
- Lighting adjustments for cave, kofun, and architectural entrances/exits
- Fixes for cloth clipping on Yasuke’s outfits (while riding) and Naoe’s outfits (while crouching)
- Citizens without weapons no longer bleed when attacked, reducing unintended blood spill in temples/shrines
- Tables and racks in temples/shrines are now indestructible (Some objects like drums or bowls can still be broken as they are generic ones present everywhere in the world) (Tables are still dynamic objects, so players can still move/push them).
In this revised version, we’re making a small adjustment focused on resolving issues related to the depiction of actual Japanese landmarks and sacred sites being damaged during gameplay. Consequently, players will no longer have the option to desecrate shrines or temples within the game, as shown in certain pre-launch videos.
Today, on March 20th, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is officially released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The modifications detailed in the update mentioned previously will be incorporated when gamers buy and download the game today.
