As a seasoned Assassin’s Creed fan with countless hours spent traversing medieval landscapes and uncovering historical secrets, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and concern regarding the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft has been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride lately, with some hits (like Valhalla) and misses (Star Wars Outlaws anyone?).
One of Ubisoft’s key figures responsible for the Assassin’s Creed series has shared more insight into the postponement of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”. Originally slated for a November 2024 launch, the game was recently moved to February 2025. The delay has added to the ongoing speculation surrounding Ubisoft, as disappointing performances of recent titles such as “Star Wars Outlaws” and “Skull and Bones” have heightened expectations for the next Assassin’s Creed game. It is now understood that inconsistencies with previous releases are a significant factor contributing to the delay of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the next installment of Assassin’s Creed, and it seems that Ubisoft is putting extra effort into making it exceptional. In a conversation with Eurogamer, Marc-Alexis Coté, the executive producer of our beloved series, revealed why this might be so. He admitted that Ubisoft’s recent games haven’t met the high standards we, the fans, have come to expect. To put it simply, they’ve fallen short, and we’ve made our displeasure known.

According to Coté, players have the ability to be picky, opting only for top-tier experiences, and they are justified in demanding superior quality. In recent times, Ubisoft’s collection has been subject to criticism due to perceived fluctuations in quality. Players anticipate higher quality, more originality, and increased immersion from our games, and they aren’t hesitant to express their dissatisfaction when they believe we haven’t met the mark. This competitive landscape motivates us to improve and strive for excellence. Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers us a chance to alter this narrative, not just for Assassin’s Creed, but I believe for Ubisoft as a whole.
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve seen my fair share of ups and downs with Ubisoft’s releases. With the string of letdowns they’ve faced lately, Assassin’s Creed Shadows could well be one of their most critical games yet. If this game stumbles at launch, it might not bode well for Ubisoft. As we approach its release in February, I can only hope that they take the necessary time to polish it, giving Assassin’s Creed Shadows a better chance at success.
The action-adventure game titled “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” is set for a release next year, specifically on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025. You can expect it to be available on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. Keep an eye out for more updates about “Shadows” right here on ComicBook as we inch closer to its launch date.
