As a long-time fan of the Assassin’s Creed series, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and apprehension about the latest delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. On one hand, I understand the need for Ubisoft to take its time and ensure that the game is polished to perfection. After all, we fans have waited long enough for this installment, and it deserves nothing less than greatness.
The setback for the launch of “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows” has grown even larger. Last month, Ubisoft announced that the game would be pushed back from its original date to February 14, 2025. Given the significant role this release plays in Ubisoft’s current challenging situation, it’s not shocking they’ve opted for more development time. What’s often overlooked is that this delay affects more than just the unveiling of “Assassin’s Creed: Shadows”.
As a gamer, I’ve learned that there’s been an unexpected hiccup in the release schedule for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” which could potentially affect the entire Assassin’s Creed series pipeline. A recent report points to an internal email from Marc-Alexis C?t?, one of the executive producers, stating that this delay might also influence the rest of our beloved franchise’s development roadmap. The details about specific games that might be affected aren’t explicitly mentioned in the email, but the report hints at one title in the series.
The report clearly states that the anticipated remake of “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” is set to launch in November 2025, however, there’s a possibility it might get postponed to the year 2026. Similarly, the rumored multiplayer game, “Assassin’s Creed Invictus”, is speculated to be released around the same timeframe, but there’s also a chance it could be delayed until 2026.
All of this comes from Tom Henderson via Insider Gaming. For those that don’t know, Henderson is one of the premier sources in the industry, especially when it comes to Ubisoft. Typically, he is very reliable. Despite this, everything here should still be taken with a grain of salt.
Currently, Ubisoft hasn’t provided any response or clarification regarding the report and the buzz it generated. However, since they typically avoid commenting on rumors and speculations, it’s unlikely that this will change. If there’s an update, we’ll make sure to reflect it in our story.
It’s definite that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” won’t come out before February 14, 2025 at the soonest. The stakes are high for Ubisoft as they are banking on this launch to be a commercial hit following the disappointing performance of “Star Wars Outlaws” and other recent titles. The delay suggests that there may be some doubts that this game will be the highly anticipated, blockbuster release Ubisoft is hoping for.
