Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Files Mention Test Maps for Multiplayer and PvP – Rumour

There’s been chatter about a post-release update for Assassin’s Creed Shadows potentially adding a cooperative multiplayer feature, but it’s been rather quiet recently. Nevertheless, digging into the game’s files suggests that there could be plans to introduce a multiplayer mode for Assassin’s Creed Shadows in the future.

As a dedicated fan, I’ve stumbled upon an exciting discovery on social media platform X – user Totocko97 has hinted at some intriguing findings in the recent bootstrap file for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Apparently, these files contain references to developer test maps for multiplayer and even suggest a Player versus Player (PvP) game mode!

Regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has been relatively silent about future plans. However, they are currently developing the Claws of Awaji expansion for the game, which will offer a variety of fresh content such as new gear, abilities, and skills when it becomes available towards the end of this year.

Whispers about a cooperative mode for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” surfaced even prior to its launch. A piece of news from October suggested that the cooperative mode was not responsible for the multiple delays experienced by the game. Instead, it is believed that the multiplayer aspect had been in development much earlier than when the delay was announced.

In the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it’s quite plausible to imagine a multiplayer mode where both main characters, Naoe and Yasuke, could be controlled by different players. Such an arrangement would present an exciting challenge in crafting missions that cater to the unique playstyles of these two characters. While Naoe excels at stealth tactics, Yasuke is proficient in raw combat, making for a rich and dynamic gameplay experience when played cooperatively.

The fact that Player versus Player (PvP) features are included is worth noting, as it’s been quite some time since an Assassin’s Creed game featured PvP, with the last one being Black Flag. Interestingly, the first appearance of a PvP mode in the series was actually in 2010’s Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, which was the third mainline installment. In this mode, multiple assassins would compete against each other in multiplayer arenas.

In terms of cooperative play, the Assassin’s Creed series has mostly steered clear of this feature except for occasional attempts in games such as Unity. Post these attempts, Ubisoft has predominantly concentrated on delivering single-player experiences. However, with the launch of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, the emphasis has been moved towards providing a live-service experience, while retaining the core single-player gameplay.

As a gamer who’s conquered Assassin’s Creed Shadows, I’m excited to see what the creators have up their sleeves next! They’re brainstorming methods to beef up the challenge for us hardcore players.
