Assassin’s Creed Shadows Has Been Delayed to February 14, 2025

As a seasoned gamer with years of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and frustration upon hearing the news about the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. On one hand, I understand Ubisoft’s decision to prioritize quality over a strict release schedule, especially after the less-than-stellar performance of Star Wars Outlaws. However, as someone who has patiently waited for each new installment in the Assassin’s Creed series, the thought of waiting a few more months is bittersweet.

Ubisoft unexpectedly called off their Tokyo Game Show live stream, followed by news that they had also scrapped pre-release demos for ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’. This led many to speculate about a possible delay in the game’s release, and it appears those suspicions were correct as Ubisoft has now confirmed it.

Ubisoft has postponed the release of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” by a few months, with the new launch date set for February 14 next year. The company explained that this decision was influenced by player feedback and their focus on being player-centric. Despite the game being fully featured, Ubisoft has chosen to give it more development time due to lessons learned from the response to “Star Wars Outlaws”.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that despite the game being fully-featured, Ubisoft has decided to grant us more time to perfect it, inspired by the lessons learned from the release of Star Wars Outlaws. This extra time will empower our team to ensure this monumental installment in the franchise truly lives up to its potential. Specifically, it allows us to fully realize our dual protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke each offering unique gameplay experiences.

The open-world game “Star Wars Outlaws,” released by Ubisoft, was indeed a highly anticipated title. However, it didn’t meet expectations as far as sales and critical acclaim are concerned. Critics gave it mixed reviews, and according to reports, the game had only sold around a million units by the end of August. This underperformance has also led to a continuous drop in Ubisoft’s share prices.

Moreover, Ubisoft has announced that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” will be accessible on Steam concurrently with its launch next year, and they have opted to abandon the Season Pass model for this game. You can find further details about this change here.
