Since the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows last week, it has evidently kicked off to a robust start, as Ubisoft had hoped, with over 2 million players joining within the first two days. This strong momentum is also mirrored in the game’s physical sales in the UK market.
According to journalist Christopher Dring on BlueSky, “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” has had the largest physical launch for a game in the UK this year, outperforming even “Monster Hunter Wilds.” In other words, it sold significantly more copies than Monster Hunter Wilds at its debut.
In addition, it’s worth noting that its initial sales have outperformed Ubisoft’s previous major AAA title, “Star Wars Outlaws,” by selling more physical copies in its first week than “Outlaws” did in its first three months. Nevertheless, the launch sales of “Shadows” are yet to reach the impressive figures achieved by 2020’s “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla,” as suggested by Dring.
You can play “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, or your personal computer. Check out our review of the game right here, where it received a rating of 9 out of 10.
In terms of traditional sales, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has had the most successful UK game launch this year, with Monster Hunter Wilds trailing significantly behind. Moreover, in just one week, it outperformed Star Wars Outlaws’ three-month sales figure for boxed copies. However, its performance is still far from matching last year’s Valhalla (based on GfK data).
