Assassin’s Creed Shadows is Ubisoft’s Second-Biggest Launch of All Time – Rumour

The latest addition to the “Assassin’s Creed” series, titled “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” has made an outstanding debut, surpassing the typical successes of the franchise. In fact, Ubisoft revealed that the game managed to amass over 2 million players within just its first two days, a feat that appears to be a significant triumph for various aspects.

According to VGC and Insider Gaming, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is ranked as the second largest launch of all Assassin’s Creed games, with Ubisoft reporting similar figures in a separate report. Both reports, based on internal sales data from unnamed sources, place the game behind 2020’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Notably, unlike previous Assassin’s Creed games that were released during busier end-of-year periods, Shadows has experienced its high sales in the less bustling month of March.

According to Insider Gaming, Assassin’s Creed Shadows started with approximately 2.2 million players within its first two days, which is slightly less than the initial 2.55 million players for Valhalla. However, the report predicts that Shadows could reach up to 6 million players by the end of its first month. During the same initial period, Odyssey reportedly had around 3.4 million players (with more than 40 million now), while Valhalla had over 8 million players.

Meanwhile, according to VGC’s report, Assassin’s Creed Shadows has set a new record for Ubisoft as its most successful launch on the PlayStation Store. Furthermore, it was activated 27% of the time on PC, with a substantial portion taking place on Steam. The game is also reportedly Ubisoft’s most wishlisted title to date and had the strongest start for any Ubisoft game on Twitch, accumulating over 11 million hours of viewership in its first day.
