Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Naoe is “The Fastest Assassin” Yet, Says Creative Director

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I must say that Ubisoft’s reveal about Naoe and Yasuke for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows has me more than excited! Having grown up playing the older games in the series, I can appreciate the emphasis on speed with Naoe being touted as the “fastest Assassin” yet. The nod to the iconic “Naruto run” in her sprint is a delightful touch that will undoubtedly resonate with anime fans like myself.

Ubisoft has revealed plenty of fresh information about Naoe and Yasuke, the main characters in the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed Shadows.” Each character seems distinct, with variations in movement and durability, as well as their evasion techniques. But if you’re a fan who prefers swiftness and the exhilaration of the earlier games, Naoe is being billed as the fastest Assassin ever featured.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the creative director Jonathan Dumont revealed that Naoe is our swiftest Assassin yet, moving at extraordinary speeds. Her arsenal of gadgets ensures she can maintain stealth, minimizing the need for frequent combat. Our goal was to cater to those players who enjoy the ninja-Assassin gameplay experience with this character.

Remarkably, Naoe features a dash reminiscent of the “Naruto run,” a characteristic speeding stride from the manga/anime. As Dumont put it, “We do have a rooftop sprint with a subtle nod to it.

As a gamer, I appreciate Naoe’s stealthy approach for those covert night-time missions. But if you’re hankering for a more action-packed adventure, focus on Yasuke instead. The cherry on top? You can equip both characters with gear throughout the game, so there’s no need to grind extensively when switching between them.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows” will be released on February 14th, 2025, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms. According to Dumont, the main storyline of this game is similar in length to that of “Origins/Odyssey” and “Valhalla,” which roughly translates to a playtime of around 30 to 60 hours.
