Assassin's Creed Shadows to Bring Back Beloved Gameplay Feature From Assassin's Creed 2

As a seasoned Assassin’s Creed fan, my heart skipped a beat when Ubisoft announced that double assassinations will be making a comeback in the upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. I was thrilled to learn that this feature was first introduced in Assassin’s Creed 2, which remains one of my favorite games from the series.

As a gamer, I’m excited to hear that Ubisoft is bringing back a beloved feature from Assassin’s Creed 2 in the upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Many of the iconic elements that have defined the series originally appeared in Assassin’s Creed 2. In more recent years, Ubisoft has been experimenting with a fresh approach to the franchise through games like Assassin’s Creed Origins. It seems that with this year’s launch of AC Shadows, Ubisoft is aiming to blend the old and new elements together

In their latest blog post, Ubisoft announced that the upcoming game, ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’, will reintroduce a popular mechanic: double assassinations. This feature, first seen in ‘Assassin’s Creed 2’, lets players silently eliminate two enemies simultaneously. Originally demonstrated by Ezio Auditore da Firenze in ‘AC2’, the double assassination technique was a staple in subsequent games until ‘Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’ was released in 2015. Since then, it had been absent from the series until now

As an ardent fan, let me share some intriguing details about Assassin’s Creed Shadows. While the game introduces double assassinations, it’s essential to note a notable condition: this feature is exclusive to Naoe, the female shinobi character in the game. In contrast, Yasuke, another playable protagonist, is more of a samurai warrior and lacks the stealth abilities that Naoe possesses

Ubisoft describes Naoe as a character who excels in her surroundings. She can conceal herself underwater by breathing through a bamboo stalk, exploit dense fog and rain for concealment, and see enemies through walls using Eagle Vision. Her katana is used to deliver powerful strikes, while her shinobi bells can lure guards closer and her thrown kunai can subdue them from a distance. She possesses acrobatic abilities like climbing and parkour that Yasuke doesn’t, along with a grappling hook for scaling, swinging, attacking unexpected targets, pulling enemies out of sight for stealthy takedowns, and hiding in building rafters. Depending on her weapons, she can execute enemies in various ways, including performing double assassinations with her Hidden Blade and tanto

It’s yet unclear if the revival of dual assassinations in Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be a significant factor contributing to its popularity, but we won’t have to wait long to discover the answer as the game is scheduled for release on November 12th. The new Assassin’s Creed title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and personal computers
