Assassin’s Creed Shadows Was Such a Hit, Ubisoft’s Delaying Unannounced Games

The release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been a welcome respite for Ubisoft amidst their financial troubles, and its positive reception has even led the company to delay other upcoming projects.

Reminders: Initially slated for a November 2024 launch, the release of Shadows got pushed back multiple times. First, it was shifted to February 2025, and then further delayed until March 20th – the revised date that eventually held firm.

According to various reports, the additional development period proved useful, and with the successful release of a popular product behind them, Ubisoft has chosen to postpone several as yet unnamed projects that are still under production.

Based on their most recent financial update, Ubisoft has been unusually open about their future strategies, albeit they haven’t revealed specific details about the unmentioned games yet.

Following a comprehensive evaluation of their projects between October and December, the organization has opted to extend the development period for several major productions, aiming to establish optimal conditions for their success, as they detailed.

“This decision has already been beneficial to the quality of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.”

With this approach, Ubisoft aims for substantial expansion across the upcoming fiscal periods. Essentially, they want their top-performing games to achieve great commercial success – a goal that seems crucial for their continued growth and prosperity.

And if internal delays help make that goal a reality, then that appears to be the call.

Speaking of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it’s worth mentioning that the recent reports were accurate: Shadows ranks as the second highest launch in the series, outshone only by Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Will the delays Ubisoft is experiencing eventually prove beneficial to them? Go ahead and share your thoughts, and don’t hold back on your confidence in the comments!
