In Japan, the upcoming “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” has been rated CERO Z, which means it’s not recommended for players under 18 years old. However, the game will undergo some modifications or adjustments to comply with Japanese standards.
Ubisoft announced through a post on their Japanese X account that the Japanese edition of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” will differ from its global version due to adjustments made to meet the guidelines set by CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization).
In the case of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, the game content within the Japanese version may vary slightly to meet the guidelines set by the reviewing organization, CERO: Z.
It’s worth noting that when Assassin’s Creed Shadows is launched globally, players will have the choice to turn dismemberment on or off in the game. However, the Japanese version of the game will be unique as it won’t offer this option at all and will instead play without any dismemberment effects enabled by default.
In this updated version of the game, you can no longer toggle dismemberment on or off in the settings. Instead, dismembering enemy bodies has become a permanent feature. Additionally, the visual representation of dismembered limbs and heads has been altered.
As the highly-anticipated release date for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” on March 20th draws near, the development team has been disclosing several interesting details about the game. Most recently, associate game director Simon Lemay-Comtois shared that one of the two playable characters, Yasuke, won’t possess any assassin abilities whatsoever, not even the famous Eagle Vision. Instead, Yasuke’s role as an outsider in Feudal Japan and the Assassins will provide a distinctive viewpoint in both the narrative and gameplay mechanics.
Ubisoft has shared that a recent delay in the game’s release, moving it back to March, is due to the development team requiring extra time to perfect certain aspects, particularly fine-tuning the parkour mechanics to harmonize with the distinctive rooftop structures found in Feudal Japan.
The game aims to prevent the excessive clutter in open-world maps, a concern often raised towards Ubisoft’s titles. This design choice stems from the developers’ trip to Japan for research purposes, resulting in a world that players can explore freely, without constant new points of interest popping up every few steps.
The highly anticipated “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. For further information, take a look at some of the recently unveiled accessibility options and features that will be included with the game. These features cater to colorblind players, as well as a variety of other options designed to make the game accessible to almost everyone.
The new release will debut together with the Animus Hub, serving as the central platform for future installments in the series. Importantly, only games starting from Assassin’s Creed Origins will be compatible with the Animus Hub, while earlier titles will remain unchanged.
