As a seasoned gamer who’s been through the highs and lows of the gaming industry, I must say I’m pleasantly surprised by Ubisoft’s recent announcements regarding Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The decision to ditch the Season Pass model is a breath of fresh air, especially considering the backlash we’ve seen with other titles. It’s like they’re finally understanding that not everyone wants to pay extra for content they might not even enjoy!
Following some recent discussions, Ubisoft has officially postponed the launch of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows”, now expected to be released in February. Additionally, Ubisoft has adjusted its release plans for this game, a decision that also signals a shift in their overall strategy moving forward.
Initially, Ubisoft has announced that they are abandoning the Season Pass model for “Assassin’s Creed Shadows,” possibly because of the criticism faced by games like “Star Wars Outlaws” and other Ubisoft titles concerning their post-release plans and pricing in the past. Instead, the initial expansion for “Shadows” will be offered free to those who pre-order the game.
Ubisoft is moving away from the standard Season Pass approach. Instead, they’re planning to make the game available for all players simultaneously on Valentine’s Day (February 14). If you pre-order the game, you’ll receive the initial expansion at no extra cost!
Simultaneously, Ubisoft has declared that “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” will debut on Steam on its release day as well. This signifies a comeback of day-one and simultaneous releases on this platform by the publisher.
“The game will mark the return of our new releases on Steam Day 1,” the company says.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is due out on February 14, 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
