Assassin’s Creed’s Animus Hub Isn’t a Standalone Launcher, Doesn’t Support Pre-Origins Titles

After several years of being quiet and undergoing a name change, Ubisoft’s Animus Hub will debut on March 20th. It brings together modern “Assassin’s Creed” games from “Origins” to “Shadows” onto one platform. Here, you can access narrative elements, complete missions, and earn rewards.

Indeed, while there remain some questions unanswered, Ubisoft has provided significant clarification in their latest FAQ. Contrary to initial assumptions, Animus Hub is not a standalone application; instead, it’s integrated into the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows. At this point, they have no intentions of separating it into a distinct launcher.

Individuals who have games such as “Origins”, “Valhalla”, “Odyssey”, or “Mirage” installed can start them directly from the Hub. However, for those with physical copies, you’ll need to insert the disc. Sadly, titles launched before “Origins” are not compatible. It’s also worth mentioning that missions within the Animus Hub, known as Anomalies, can only be played in “Shadows”.

In simpler terms, Ubisoft emphasizes that the content within the Animus Hub is accessible for free while playing the game, and additional missions as well as updates will continue to be offered without charge. The Keys used to acquire rewards from The Exchange can’t be bought with real money; instead, they can only be obtained by successfully completing Anomalies.

If you’re not online, your memories will still be there, but you won’t be able to reach The Exchange, work on Projects, or open The Vault.

Regarding future developments, Ubisoft is eagerly discussing expansive strategies aimed at connecting the Assassin’s Creed universe, its Modern Day narrative, and cherished Assassin’s Creed games by establishing fresh links.

Embarking on this adventure within ‘Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ marks just the beginning of our shared odyssey. Rest assured, The Hub is not standing still; it’s continuously expanding and improving with fresh features, content, and rewards being unveiled consistently over months and years.

On March 20th, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers. For a glimpse into its narrative, watch the story trailer. Learn about the Claws of Awaji expansion or view the PC requirements by following these links.
