As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve got the inside scoop on Netflix’s upcoming series – Astérix & Obélix: The Big Fight! This highly anticipated animated adaptation is based on the seventh album in the iconic comic series created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, and it’s finally set to hit our screens. So mark your calendars, fellow fans, because we’re about to embark on another epic adventure with our favorite Gauls!
Mark your calendars, fellow cinephiles! The much-anticipated series is set to make its grand entrance on Netflix starting from the 30th of April, 2025. That means we’ve got only a few exciting months left before we can immerse ourselves in the magic of this production. Can’t wait!
The Asterix comic books have been transformed multiple times, mainly into movies, with the most recent adaption being the live-action film on Netflix titled “Asterix and Obelix: The Secret of the Middle Kingdom.
In the early 1000s, Rome is determined to subdue the final free village in Gaul, a place known as the home of Asterix and Obelix.
The key to the Gauls’ dominance in battle was a magical elixir, however, when its creator fell into a state of amnesia, the villagers were forced to rely on their own resources as they faced the overwhelming power of the Romans.
The French TV show was developed and overseen by Alain Chabat, who previously penned and helmed the 2002 live-action film “Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra.” Fabrice Joubert shared directing duties with Chabat on the series, and together with Benoît Oullion and Piano, he also contributed to its writing.
The project, initially unveiled in 2021, saw Netflix’s Director of Original Animation, Dominique Bazay, express enthusiasm in a statement. He announced the collaboration between Netflix and France’s leading publisher, revealing their intent to introduce Asterix, a beloved symbol of French culture, to a fresh global audience.
In collaboration with Hachette’s Les Editions Albert René, we’re set to produce the initial animated limited series inspired by an eternal favorite.
Netflix has recently revealed the launch dates for several upcoming productions, among which are the British shows “Toxic Town” and “Adolescence”.
