Although Astro Bot has garnered over 100 Game of the Year awards, establishing itself as the most acclaimed platformer ever made, Reggie Fils-Aimé, a former president of Nintendo in America, stated it’s not quite on par with Nintendo yet. In jest, he suggested that Astro Bot came very close to outdoing Nintendo at their own game after it was awarded Best Kids Game at the New York Game Awards. Interestingly, at the same event, Team Asobi also received the main Game of the Year prize.

For 13 years, from 2006 to 2019, Reggie held the position as president at Nintendo of America. During this tenure, he was instrumental in bringing top-tier platform games like Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel onto the Nintendo Wii, as well as Super Mario Odyssey for the Nintendo Switch.
