As I write this, Astro Bot stands at a remarkable Metacritic score of 94, compiled from 105 reviews. This makes it the highest-rated brand new game release of 2024 thus far, surpassing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s score of 92, which is based on 151 reviews. Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree has a Metacritic score of 95, but it’s an expansion rather than a full new game release like Astro Bot
On OpenCritic, Astro Bot currently holds a composite rating of 95, derived from 75 critiques, surpassing Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s score of 93 at the time of this writing
