Astro Bot Developer Initially Considered an Open World Structure

As a seasoned gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but be intrigued by the upcoming Astro Bot game for PS5. The prospect of over 80 levels in this platformer is already enough to get my heart racing! But what really piqued my interest is the revelation that the developers initially considered making Astro Bot an open-world game.

As someone who has been following the gaming industry for years and has played countless platformers, I’m genuinely excited about the upcoming Astro Bot game. The promise of a vast amount of variety in its roster of levels is truly intriguing to me. Having heard Team Asobi emphasize numerous times that this game will be quite sizeable, my anticipation grows even more.

I, as a passionate gamer and the creative director of Astro Bot at Team Asobi, pondered over the idea of making our platformer an open-world game during the initial stages of development.

In an interview with EDGE magazine as reported by GamesRadar, Doucet explained that they chose a level-based design for their game because it offered the most control over the game’s diversity.

As a gamer, I can tell you that the excitement of having something new and diverse is really brought to life in “Astro Bot”. This platformer game offers an impressive variety of experiences. With over 80 levels spread across various galaxies, there’s always a fresh challenge to look forward to. Plus, you’ll encounter more than 70 distinct enemy types, keeping the gameplay engaging and unpredictable. Not only that, but there are over 300 bots waiting to be rescued! For those who crave an extra dose of challenge, optional hard stages provide even more depth and replayability.

Astro Bot is due out on September 6 for PS5.
